See, there's a catch to this question. My dad has been a Judge for over 20 years now, 20 of those years a District Judge, and in 2000 he became a Cicuit court judge. My dad has never been a corrupt judge, unless there's a dark secret I'm unaware of. He's certainly not a racist judge at all, he's always been supportive of human rights for everybody. But he is very opposed to "radicals" and "protestors", he's a firm believer in "law and order" for sure.
He's a huge history buff, but he's never read A People's History by Howard Zinn, that could definetely be a start, since it's not so blatantly Commie-like, just a critique of history. I've got two of Mumia Abu-Jamal's books, "Live from death row" and "All things censored". He may get major insight from the book, or he may just look at me like I'm an idiot, since he's an avid listener of NPR's All Things Considered lol. So watch'all a'thinkin? Yay or big nay?

Of course you should let him read your books. Hell even my mom read the first 20 pages of my copy of the communist manifesto. And of course you should probaly explain your views to him. He seems like a pretty open-minded guy, so you should go for it. My dad thinks I'm a crazy idealist because of my views, but he doesn't persecute me for it. However my mom did get kinda pissed when she saw me on this site. SInce he's a history buff, he's probaly read A Governments History of the US. Open his eyes by showing him the truth by telling him to read A Peoples History of the US. Anyways good luck with your folks.

My mum hates commie's but my dad's a commie which gives me all the right to be one :D or else she'll be single!
But yeah go ahead and tell your dad and listen to his views and debate it with him, show him you know what your talking about.

Abu-Jamal's books are excellent... My mom read "All Things Censored" and it actually changed her views on "justice" pretty significantly.

I just have to keep saying to my parents that I am not an extremist - that you are not all trying to recruit me into a terrorist/revolutionary organisation! They are left wing + very political but don't seem to like talking to you all.... (i don't pay any attention to their fears though!)

A Judge is by nature a supporter of the state. Hardly surprising considering that they are part of the state apparatus. I very much doubt as to whether someone so committed could possibly become a communist.

Its great, i love debating with my dad. He is socialist and we talk and give our ideas about all kinds of stuff!
I suppose i am lucky but strangly enough he didn't tell me about communism i had to find out for my self, yeah he tells me the answers to my questions but he hasnt influenced me much!
I know strange! But i think its good to let your folks know where you stand...:hammer:
