Has anyone here wacthed the movie Cidade de Deus?
I think that the translation turn it on City of God.... It shows the reallity of the brasil's favelas... with a cost of 1,7 million dollars. A good film.
The director, fernando meirelles has made, in 1999, a film called Domésticas, o filme.
The movie shows the lifes of the maids in the city of São Paulo... It's a good filme too.
In an interview for an Tv program here, Meirelles said that Domesticas was about the familiar apartheid, City of God was about the social apartheid... and even said that his next project will be about the world apartheid.
The provisory name of the movie is Globalizaçao. He said that is necesary to show how acts from people of rich countries fucks tha life of poor people, etc...
I think we can expect other fantastic movie... 'cause merilles is a leftist....
He was called to direct a film with Tom Hanks, and said no to it.
He said that it's no time to send himself to Hollywood, and that he isn't that man to work with " that disgusting north american pop culture"...
Good Meirelles, good....
