In the ideal communist society how would the distribution of food work?

These days we go to the supermarket and top up or if we need something general we could always pop in to our local cornershops (we have alot in England).

But in a communist society, how much food are you allowed to take, is there a limit? In the sense of having like 'tokens' given to you by the government or something?

What if we were in the town centre and felt like a drink? how would we get one, like today we just go into a shop and pay for a bottle of drink.

How would it work?

You go to the store and pick up what you need. It's simple.

I know but...what if someone was taking more than what they need? What if a person living on his own was taking what a family would but not eating it and just wasting the food.

Well, people who take more food than they need and wasting it would be confronted. They would not be penalized, but they would be instructed to stop. Occasions like this would be quite rare, because people simply just wouldn't take more than they need because they wouldn't have a reason to. And theree would be no "tokens" because sometimes if someone wants to feed more people than usual (let's say at a dinner party) than they must be allowed to take more. A long time ago I once presented the idea of having "credits" for items, but it was immediately shot down, co I've abandoned that idea.

as long as the need for rationing isnt around, then people can take as much food as they please.

People wouldn't need to take more than they need, they wouldn't have any reasont to do so. Greedy people would be laughed at and would be changed by society.
