It's fairly simple, it about the content.

If they sing/rap/talk from a leftist perspective, it's leftist music.

Yeah so there can be conservative music. Have you seen those crazy nazi twins? That's an example of the extreme right making music.

Rage has always been communist to the core, they might have used corporations to get their music out, but they never conformed at all, they never sold out.

They were really the leaders of rap-metal, after they retired other rap-metal bands like papa roach dropped rapping.

Yes the conservative music is commonly called R.AC.(Rock Against Communism), it was started by Oi! bands like skrewdriver. but on the same hand skinheads have RASH and SHARP (Red and Anarchist SkinHeads)(SkinHeads Aganinst Racial Prejuduce), I like the bands Comrade and the RedSkins(good RASH oi!)

but some common R.A.C. are skrewdriver, angry arayans, blue eyed devils, Max Resist, Bound for Glory

www.therightbrothers.com/

Republican Country band who made a Pop Punk song called "Bush Was Right" they tried to get it on MTV.

Good for either a really good laugh, or just getting pissed off at republicans.

Rage Against the Machine and The Clash were just about as influential as any political literature in helping me develop my political thought.

I wouldn't think of it as sounding sad, I'm sure most people here can say the same thing. It played a very big part in my getting into politics as well. That was the whole point of the music.
