I have a question for you all. How come I have not seen anyone else here worried about Chavez? All the posts I've seen are all about how hes going to fight American Imperalism and bring socalism to Venezulea. But I don't see why no one here has questioned his motives. For instance, he does live on one of South America's largest oil producers. For me, thats enough for a government to become corrupt, thats whats wrong with the United States.

I'm not against Hugo Chavez, I do find some of the things he has done in the past including reports of electoral fraud, human rights violations, political repression, and censorship to be unacceptable, but for the most part, I'm all for a new Socalist nation.

So, if any of you could explain to me why I shouldn't be bothered by oil and Chavez' previous history, that would be great.

Mm.. Doesn't Chavez sell oil to poor countries for dirt cheap?

Sounds like he's trying to crash the economy to me. Thumbs Up.

Jamaica will pay $40 a barrel, against a market rate of more than $60. (http://www.guardian.co.uk/venezuela/story/0,12716,1555970,00.html)

Hugo Chavez is a social democrat. His form of capitalism isn't a brutal as say, the USA's and he lives in a country with large oil deposits to draw from. Other than that he's no better than other Capitalist countries. I have no idea why all lefties seem to be going mental over him.

I understand that he's selling to other countries, but I don't believe that american money won't influence him in selling to the U.S .
