Is China a communist state ? Or can it be counted as one ?

Absolutely not! It has the state trappings of Stalinism but the economic trappings of the USA.

IS CHINA SOCIALIST?
This study group will attempt to explore and discuss four views:
1) The Haxhaite view that Maoism is "revisionist" Marxism-Leninism, and that there was never a genuine socialist revolution in China;
2) The Maoist view that "Mao Zedong Thought" is an extension of Marxism-Leninism, that there was indeed genuine socialism in China but that it is being reversed by the "revisionism" of Deng Xiaoping;
3) The "Market Socialist" view that the economic theories Deng Xiaoping are in the genuine interest of socialism in China;
4) and the Trotskyite view that all of the above are Stalinism, betrayal, and bureaucracy; and China is either a Deformed Worker's state or State Capitalist.
Questions:
· What is Socialism?
· What role does a 'market economy' play under socialism, if any?
· At what stage should market elements be abolished?
· Is China restoring Capitalism or modernizing socialism with its economic reforms?
· What is the correct view/theory of China?
· What line should be taken on China?

The chinese politicians call themselves communists even though a communist politician is kinda an oxymoron. I however know that it is a capitalist state with a communist mask over it.

"At the beginning of the 20th century, the German left claimed parliament to be "politically obsolete" now that there was a clear example of a successful workers' revolution, and many more workers were supporting revolutionary ideas. Lenin argued that, although a minority now understood that parliament was not truly democratic, the majority of workers still believed it was the only practical way forward" - Theresa Bennett [>-<] (http://www.socialistworker.co.uk/archive/1720/sw172017.htm)
