i was just wondering what kind of environmental actions/campaigns people here are involved in, and what kinda tactics they engage in, if they have any particular interests, what issues are prioritised in the areas they live, etc
currently the only thing i'm involved in is the clean/green energy campaign here, which is great and has been responded to well but i still feel unfulfilled :P an space for enviro organising is in the process of being acquired, close to the city where it's easier for people to meet up, it's like this warehouse which is being rented to us for very cheap by this awesome leftie dude. and we've gotten donations of a photocopier, fridge, computers, etc, which is amazing. but i still feel that there's a lack of i guess cohesiveness in a lot of the enviro movements here in australia, and i guess i'm kinda looking to see how other people organise and act.

I wouldn't say that I'm really organized, but I do cherish the environment and the earth. I pretty much just try to pick up others trash, tell people who litter to stop, and educate people about the environment. I also try to go out and experience nature whenever I can.

i'm doing it through uni actually, its a national bid to try and get all universities to eventually change to clean energy. it's been successful in various degrees across australia, basically each individual uni is being asked to sign a contract to have a certain percentage of their energy use dedicated to clean energy by a certain amount of years. it's been pretty effective so far, which is great. here's an article about the campaign so far

Personally I go in cycles. I still spend a few months (even if not consequetively) outside of "society." During my withdrawal I practice my skills and try to live in a manner than would be sustainable should communal living take off. This is also part of my plan failing any progression within my life. Times are not yet defined, but I will experience communism in my life, even if I have to create my own. I am not a primitivist, but technology is something that I do see as novel in many cases, and unecessary in more. I still do, and will not own a mobile phone, although many see this as a fundamental accessory, I just see it as and accessory.
When living in a house and working and attending college however my approach is different. I have never in my life, ever, intentionally littered. Whenever I have mistakenly dropped something I have went to every effort to reconcile this.
I am obsessive compulsive about energy conservation. I still use technology, but I can't leave lights on, or a tap dripping. I refuse to use central heating, although I will not avoid an area just because it has it. I also do not watch television in at all, again I still respect other people's desire to do so and can be in company of those watching television, it is just and activity I do not choose to partake in.
I try to stick to "green" products wherever possible, and depending on the gravity of an offending product will not use it in any circumstance. I realise that I am relying on fuel from poor sources when I ride the bus, but again I make more exceptions for when I co-exist with unenvironmentally friendly life.
To be honest I find life in a system hell-bent on destruction restrictive, and time away from it liberating. I am not advocating the abolition of technology, just an accurate re-assessment of it's place.
