View Full Version : Worried About Interpretation of French Unrest

No one HERE (at this site) will take such a point of view, but "average cappies" might view the recent rioting in France as pro-Islamic rather than class warfare.

A thought pattern may be, "We stayed out of the war, and even protested against it, and still the Islamic youth outside of Paris are against us."

What media outlets in the U.S. will focus on the real issues of poverty and capitalist crime, instead of the "evil Arab" slant to the story?

A savage assault this week on a bus passenger highlighted the dangers.

Attackers doused the woman, in her 50s and on crutches, with an inflammable liquid and set her afire as she tried to get off a bus in the suburb of Sevran, judicial officials said. The bus had been forced to stop because of burning objects in its path. She was rescued by the driver and hospitalized with severe burns.

Yet no mention of the massive police brutality, people being dragged out their cars and beaten to the ground, or police lines firing tear gas into high schools and raiding them.

Too bad rioters doused a elderly disabled woman with petrol and set her on fire.

Fuckers. I'd like to murder those bastards.

I don't even think this is class war. Sure, it may be influenced by class and racial tensions in the area, but this is just a bunch of youth setting everything they can see on fire just to "protest" the accidental death of 2 young men. It's not revolution.

My point has more to do with the issues surrounding how the French government and citizens stood up to the lies of the Bush Administration, and nearly told them what would happen if Iraq was to be invaded, and it will be played up in the corporate press that "This is France's reward" for staying out of the alliance.

While the connection may not be there in reality, of the youth protests and the war, I wonder whether it will be thought about that way.

Liberal media bullshit.

The massive police violence they haven't even reported yet; yes, the good old nice cops and MILITARY. Yes?

The rioting has spread to 80 regional sectors in France; which all report unrest. This past just a few "youths".

do you have another source? i cant find it on any other major media outlet. which is odd since this story would be just what the state is looking for to condemn the rioters.

I rather side with the movement that might have some "bad" people in it, rather than siding with the side that is completely "bad"; the state. Its foolish to let your whole persuasion be taken by one incident.

Ah the good ol' military yeah they would never do anything wrong.

there have been many cases of soldiers of the 1RAR brigade abusing animals at Lavrack Barracks Townsville, Qld Aus.
There was a photo where white troops dressed up in Klan outfits and tied up aboriginal soldiers

I have taken this into account, and have since not been able to find it elsewhere either.

But I guess the reporting and fabricating of totally fake stories is new to me.

Sorry.

The corporate media will spin anything to fit into their world view. Leftist groups need to get involved in a show of solidarity ASAP!
