Hmmm, she has a nice ass, Don't take that as a sexist comment!
Yeah, the capital exploitation of Ernesto's face is pretty terrible, but snakes on a plane.
He's a popular icon, people will use his image to make their brand/whatever popular and there's bugger all you can do about it.

at the end of the day che's an iconic figure, his face sells, so therefore whether or not people understand what che stood for, stands for.....his face is still going to be printed on mindless object that have no connection to che or the cause....

Che was stranded in Miami for a month in 1952 if I recall correctly. I know he hated the US before he had ever set foot there but he apparently enjoyed the beaches of Miami despite having a serious lack of money whilst there.

I honestly think Che would have laughed at that picture, and quite possibly have followed her down the beach for a while :)
Although I do see the irony of an anti-capitalist icon becoming a means of selling cheap goods.

A massive fan of Che's image could wear a bikini of his face. Not a massive fan of Che's example of sacrifice. <_<

Wearing T-shirts of Che is not such a bad thing. I have a bunch myself and I use them to educate people about the truth and what he really means. I know that you're a fan of his example just as much as I am. But you know, as well as I, that these products (coffe mugs, shirts, bikinis, soap and even toys) are made to take advantage his image and what he died for. All of these are tools that the capitalists use to ridicule him and make cash out of him. What we have to do is use these tools and fight them back with them. As I said, I wear my shirts to educate but if you want to wear a bikini of him and educate people at the same time, then I'm with you comrade! :)

I don't wear clothing with Che's image on it. I don't really think its right to do so. Firstly capitalists are profitting from it and secondly, people will think that I'm just crowd following. I wear a hammer&sickle t-shirt and a redstar t-shirt and other commie branded things and also write commie messages on my bag so people behind me in ques and such can read them :P
I dunno. I just refrain from buying clothing with che on, just my way of shwoing respect to the guy, sounds silly, maybe it is, but I feel better for not doing so..

Che has become a pop icon. His followers were not just socialists but people who wanted change in general. After all, Che symbolized chivalry and gallantry in a world that was becoming more and more dominated by political deals made between the two superpowers. However, I'm sure he never wanted his image to be exploited in this fashion.
Did you know that recently, the Guevara family and the photographer who took that gamous photo have been clamoring for manufacturers to stop utilizing Che's image for their own selfish purposes particularly Smirnoff.
Big Boss
19th November 2005, 23:39
That's true. I think that Korda (the photographer who took his famous picture), never got a cent for it. A year before his death he sued a wiskey company for putting Che's face on their liquor bottles. Sadly, he died of a heart attack a couple of years ago. I don't mind so muche the clothig thing, but the thing is out of control. I mean, his face is on liquor and soap bars. What is next? Che Bubble Gum!?

I suppose its okay to buy Che Tshirts from Che-lives and other commie shops! :)
Or you could spin your own cotton, spend half your life knitting the Tshirt, and then draw a pictue of Che on it! Then no profit to any one...? :P

I don't believe that. One thing about Che that I've always respected was that he was ruthless. If something had to be done to further the revolution then he did it. I'm sure he would've regarded both chivalry and gallantry as weaknesses.

Yes, I'm well aware of Che's pragmatism and ruthlessness. I only meant gallantry and chivalry in the broadest sense or in other words brave and determined. I think this is what won him respect from the rest of the world because he was a man who was deeply committed to his beliefs and was determined to accomplish his goals. I merely used the worlds chivalry and gallantry to reflect on his dashing manner as a military and political leader. Look at it from this perspective: Here was a man representing a third world nation who had the strength of will and the guts to stand up for what he believed in even if it meant antagonizing strong opponents such as the US.
