I want to buy some big 'collected works' editions of the above authors rather than buy individual essays. Does anyone know where i can, had a look at AK Press and there was nothing, any suggestions?
Thanks to anyone who helps out :)

For Engels, there's the 40+-volume collected works of Marx and Engels...are you looking for that, or more like a "Selected Works" of 3 volumes or so?

I do not know if this is exactly what you are looking for. Use Amazon or google and you could probably find what you want and at a decent price.

What's the price difference between the two?

Large. The collected works will set you back US$30 or so a volume, at 40 or 50 volumes...you do the math. The only place I know you could order the whole set is from Pathfinder, pathfinderpress.com. They salvaged a bunch from the former USSR.
The selected works, I wouldn't pay any more per volume for, and you might find 'em for less. The best is the old Progress Publishers (Moscow, now defunct) 3-volume set, there are other 1 and 2-volume sets by the same title, different publishers. You can probably find 'em on Amazon, or who knows maybe a used bookstore near you.
Also there's a small collection called the Marx-Engels Reader, intended for college Marxism classes, I never much cared for it. Too bits-and-pieces oriented, but you might feel differently.

Erm... best leave those for when i win the lottery
Guess it will be the 'essential collection'. Can you suggest one such book? I assume there must be quite a few of these kinds of books out there, is there one that is classically regarded as the 'best'? I was actually aiming for more of Engels (marx is first thing i read), so perhaps if theres a essential collection that favour more to Engels?
Thanks.

For the Anarchist stuff, you may want to check out:
No Gods, No Masters (http://www.akpress.org/2004/items/nogodsnomastersak) by Daniel Guerin. It has a selection of writings from a lot of Anarchist theorists.

You could save yourself a load of money and download everything Engels ever wrote off MIA.
