Yo yo guys,

Alot of my friends in school know i have knowledge in communism and support it and I always tell them the benefits.

In contrary to this, my teachers, especially history teachers always make communism sounds so bad.

Like one teacher said in communism everyone would be forced to listen to one type of music and be forced to watch certain television channells? Is this true, from what i've read that seems absurd, that wouldn't be 'freedom' would it now.

Even worse than this, the students simply accept it and never find out the good points about communism, they seem, so brainwashed when you talk to them, it honestly is quiet scary, they're just like , 'no no no no communism is bad, Mr whoever said so'.

The other usual comment from teachers about communism is about Human Instict. "It's a human's instict to be greedy and take as much stuff for themselves as they can" When I reply with "How do you know Human Instinct exists? How do you know it's simply not your upbringing in this capitalist society that has brought you to believe this?" When faced with these questions, the teachers stutter and steer away from the question onto like the Treaty of Versailles or something <_< .

Im not saying all teachers are like this, I know one that supports communism in our school but most teachers give a capitalist view on communism and I don't know why...

I mean, wouldn't teachers benefit from communism? Why do many teachers not teach communism properly? When listening to my teachers it makes me wonder whether they know what they talk about? When mentioning Communism they always mention Stalin and North Korea.

Like once I heard a teacher say 'In communism, musicians will only be allowed to compose one type of music like say, classical, so everyone listens to the same thing inorder to insure equality' .. What do you guys think about this?

And how do we educate and persuade that communism is good when alot of youth, here in England, get taught the wrong things about communism.

Yours,
Noah

Firstly what type of school do you go to?
Based on what you've said I guess your teachers know nothing, perhaps you should educate them on the truths of communism.
The comments about tv channels and music sound like bullshit to me.
Anyhoo, I'll wait for other people to reply.

Your teachers are full of bullshit, along with many of mine. When they were in school they were taught bad things about communism as well. They spread these ideas down to us. Your teachers are teaching you about soviet style communism which shouldn't be called communism at all. My last teacher said that the ideas of communism are wonderful, but in reality communism never seems to work. Teachers don't teach the real communism because they don't know the real communism. Yes, teachers would benefit from communism because most teachers are overworked and underpaid. And high school teachers who openly support the real communism usually don't last too long as teachers. You have a few options, you could openly debate communism with your teachers, completely ignore your teacher, ignore your teacher and tell the kids later after school what communism is all about.

I go to a comprehensive school (I think it's called). The free type provided by the government, not a private school.

Give them a book called The Communist Manifesto.

Tell us what they say when they have finished it.

That's not true, it's something capitalists made up. Next time a teacher starts saying crap like that you might respond in class with something along the lines of, "That's not true. I'm a communist & I don't advocate that - your'e making up things about communists to make us look bad."

Why do many teachers not teach communism properly?

Most who would do so aren't hired to be teachers. They're weeded out during the process of going to school to be a teacher, being trained to be a teacher, being hired as a teacher, trying to get a raise, etc. I don't know where you live, but I live in the US and most local governments in the US require teachers to teach that capitalism is good & communism bad or something along those lines. I mean that literally - if you read the education guidelines developed by most state governments for teachers they list "teaching the benefits of the free enterprise system" as one of the teachers' goals. Schools, in their present form, are brainwashing institutions. That's why they exist, the main reason why capitalist governments run & fund them. To indoctrinate us all to believe in their system. You might find this article (http://www.zabalaza.net/pdfs/leafs/not_trust_yr_school.pdf) and this article (http://www.thememoryhole.org/edu/school-mission.htm) worth reading.

The reason they hate is because of Political Socialization. This is the process of which society influences anothers political beliefs.

Basically, they saw everyone else hated it and just went with the flow untill they hated it.

Far Left- Personal Freedoms, lack of national security.
Far Right- No freedom, secure nation.

Which does resticted media sound more like? Basic basic politics, educate your teachers. I have much the same problem, with it being "taught" in textbooks that the Nazis "saved" Germany from communism, a system supported by many groups and people throughout the country at that time.

Hey people!

I go to Noah's school and believe me, he does tell us the benifits of communism [on his soap box lol]- and the communism we get taught about is mainly Soviet - not really communist, is it(!)?

Most students don't want to accept the ideals, and refuse to learn about communism/socialism/ politcs in general, and think that this country should have a revolution by brute force - ?

As for the teachers, as well as the "listening to one type of music" etc I also got told that there would be certain television channels - and - one colour of wallpaper - <_< -? Were they running out of excuses here? Or what...

And, you can't really explain to certain teacher/pupils - scary?

really all you need to do is just speak to people who are actually willing to listen, you are just going to bang your head against a brick wall trying to get through to somebody unwilling to open their minds to different views. i've learnt this from experience, there's no way through.

This was a major issue I had to face in high school. I think it was my sophomore/junior year I really figured I had "leaned Socialist" or whatever, I was 16 or 17.
The worst was the guy I had senior year, for AP European History. He literally said: "Karl Marx was a pathetic whining bastard" and people were just ok with that. I was NOT however.
I vividly remember that class discussion. I was very mature; I wanted to say something like "KARL MARX WAS NOT A BASTARD YOU ARE A BASTARD YOU F-ING BASTARD!" but I opened my response with "Karl Marx spoke the truth about the oppression of the proletariat during the Industrial Revolution, and he and Engels devised a solution that In my opinion if put into practice correctly would effectively solve the problem." I was VERY calm and mature and bold, being only 17 and in a room full of brainwashed capitalists. Let me just say it was an awkward silence following, and my teacher said "Corinna, are you a communist?" and I answered "I belive that economic equality is a good thing and that free enterprise is foolish, exploitive, and unfair"
I had a 92 average in that class, but he gave me a C on my term paper, and I swear that was out of spite, and it totally messed up my semester. But I still dont regret making that comment in class.

Yeah anyway, no one cares about my high school life so shutting up. Yeah. I think the whole thing about REQUIRING teachers to "teach the benefits of free enterprise" is inane and.... fascist! What is that one of McCarthy's leftovers? Could a teacher seriously get fired for teaching that communism is good? If so, that should be unconstitutional, unless the rule was to not be biased at ALL politically (which is bullshit, I have had MANY biased teachers)

In my opinion, I think every teacher should do his or her best to STAY OBJECTIVE- COMPLETELY. You may disagree with me on that, but any class being politically slanted affects student's grades. I could never be a teacher because I would end up trying to make everyone Socialist, without even realizing it.
Teachers should teach the good points and bad points of capitalism and communism, and let students decide on their own. If that were the case I think far more would actually choose Communism than the number who do now. And its all because they have it drilled into their heads "Capitalism= good. Communism= bad. Capitalism= freedom (thats bullshit) and America and America is the best. Communism= Stalin and he is BAD! Communism doesnt work! Humans are greedy and greed is ok! Communism makes everyone all the same! We need the incentive to work blah blah blah blah blah yak yak yak Americans are the best yak yak yak big corporations should become globalized yadda yadda yadda the business of America is business yakety yak yak Communist, dirty Reds, Gulags, Stalin, North Korea blah blah blah......"
Wow, isnt that what some of the worst capitalists sound like? LOL

I feel your pain. My political science teacher is a complete right-wing nutjob, and hes quite eger to put down everything i have to say. Whenever i actully make him look stupid with what he says, he all of a sudden agrees with me and my left wing views. Most of the time I just sit there and laugh at him and what hes teaching the rest of the kids in my class.

I feel the same as everyone here. I am in grade 12 in Canada and am the only communist in my highschool. I even am taking a course on Politics and the textbook is total bullshit! The same goes for my economics course! They both go and say all of this shit about how "communism" is bad, repressive, conformist, poor, totalitarian, and that the individual is worthless and has no rights in a "communist" society. The only thing that bothers me more is any time that any of my teachers will use the term "communist country" which is within itself an oxymoron. Even one of my very intelligent and left-wing thinking teachers who teaches European History has, on many occasions, used the term "communist country". I am lucky though, I have teachers who are actually very open and accepting of criticism and I have been given opportunities to explain communism and some of the distortions that society has about it. For instance, In Politics I did a debate on "Communism vs Democracy" and I actually won because the person I was arguing with had nothing going for him; he was ill-informed, he had a very cursory understanding of both democracy and communism, and he had very few facts. I might even go so far as to say that I proved that our modern understanding of "democracy" is in itself undemocratic as the only persons who are ever even capable of running for any office are the very wealthy elites.
I get a lot of flack though for being a communist; my parents constantly tease me about it, a number of kids are like "you're such a commie!! Why don't you go and share you stupid red?" Even my sisters give me shit for being a communist, infact one of my sisters got very angered when I wrote a piece about the Fascist Elements that are existant in our highschool system. She went balistic and was all like "Why do you have to be so extreme? Why can't you settle for being liberal?" and bullshit like that... God, people piss me off...
Anyways, I think it is safe to say that high school in general sucks... being a communist just makes it that much harder. <_<

I'm a senior in high school, and I, like many other comrades, am interested in most social studies classes. Unfortunately, throughout my high school career, I've only had one leftist social studies teacher, and she was a crazy Christian.

My current issues teacher taught me reading Noam Chomsky, and then he told me the benefits of globalization...I am beginning to hate the man.

Last year I had a teacher who was a lefty. I would discuss politics, pholsphy, music, and literature with him during home room. He has traveled all around the globe, and has lived in former Soviet countries. We were the school's dissent intellects. He taught creative writing. He is not teaching at my school this year, and I don't know where he went. I think the Right wing administration shit canned him because they could. I view the friendship as that of young Plato and old Aristotle. Now, the only lefty I know is the Tenth grade brother of one of my friends. He's cool, but the intellectual ability is just not the same. I am sorry if I seem shakey but this is very emotional, for he was a dear friend.

I feel all of your pain! :o And you have to stay strong. Many of you have! Which is great, i have taken socialology, and it is really good, soon we will be learning about Marx and Engles. Which is really good!
The most inportant thing to have is KNOWLEDGE! Knowledge is power!

i on many occasions have been left with my mouth open wondering what to say  And your main point sould be that equality should be for all, not the rich and powerful! That way it sums up communism and sounds like a really good idea! :hammer:

I don't think I've ever got much stick from teachers for being a leftist. The only teacher who's ever seemed to have a problem with it was my deputy head and he seemed to take it rather well and we debated...

My friends seem to love my leftist views, more out of me being the "token liberal guy" than them all being hardcore commies... Actually I shouldn't really say "token" as there's quite a few reds in my school, including my history teacher, my english teacher, another history teacher and an art teacher. Their ideals range between fairly liberal and die hard socialist...

In history when we were doing McCarthyism my history teacher decided to enact the witch trials on a small scale (my history class) and he said "who apart from myself here would be infront of the supreme court for being a communist" and everyone just turned around to look at me...

I was also asked to define capitalism for the class to those who didn't understand (yep, there were some) and I basically said "exploitation by the corporation" then going into more detail about screwing over the working class and such...

Heh, I generaly ignore msot of my teachers. We havent actually gotten to Russia or anything yet, we're still on the French Revolution, but I know my history teacher knows that when we get to that stuff, it'll be interesting. My school is completel right wing, but I try to include myself in all the political group. Im a member of the Junior Statesmen of america, and the Young Republicans Club. Were so right wing, we dont have a young democrats club even. So i joined the republican one just so every time I can mention all the shit thats going on in the Republican party. I really want to ask where my free gun&third-world country for joining the club.
