Welcome comrade.

What are your views on Liberation Theology? I'm desperate for a Liberation Theologist to sign up here just so that I can pick their brain about it.

Welcome!

What does being a 'liberation theologist' entail?

What does being a 'liberation theologist' entail?

Its a liberation theory that developed in the 60s when a group of South American Catholic Priests decided to try and use the Catholic Churches power to get rid of the poverty in South American countries. It mixes Marxist theory on class and Capitalism with the teachings of the Bible. The new Pope in his previous role was the person who put forward the official Vatican report denouncing liberation theology.

How did they attempt this?

What class are the church/clergy in their analysis? Does the church retain all of its wealth and land during 'liberation', or is commonly owned and distributed?

I don't really know. From what I've read it seems they have tried to create movements within the working class, however been as the Vatican has cut them off and discredited them, they can't use the Churches power as they had planned.

These are the type of questions I wish to ask liberation theologists. At the moment I know very little about liberation theology and thats why I'm desperate for someone with a good amount of knowledge on the subject to sign up.

Welcome comrade. So do you really believe in god and what the Bible says? Or do you call yourself a catholic merely because you were raised that way? (If you do't mind me asking :) )
Oh and you might want to edit your post and remove your last name ;)
