There is a new single by The Coup from their upcoming album. Its called "My Favorite Mutiny' and features Talib Kweli and Black Thought. Already one of my favorite Coup songs, "Let’s get off the chain like Kunta Kinte wit a MAC-10"

I like how "pop" The Coup are at moments ("Five Million Ways To Kill A CEO") - and their almost-punk-rock sense of humour.

Paris has some great moments, but is often too cheezy/earnest to stomach. If you haven't heard him, he's at least worth checking out.

There used to be a few concious hip-hop groups in my hometown - Second Front, The Sound And The Fury - alas, I think all now r.i.p.

I like Coup way better then dead prez cuz Coup dosen't fuck up idealogicaly like DP does (Why do they uphold Chinese tarrot "I Ching"?). Also Coup has better beat's and is much more polished lyricaly speaking.

The only group he's actually a member of is Comrades, which is basically him and some other folks from the Oakland area -- half social clique, half political group. He does a lot of work with the RCP and other organizations; he had been around the PLP before his first album dropped. He reads WPA and WR.
