In my time that I have realized that I am a socialist, I have also realized that I dont believe in any religion, especially not Christianity. I tend to beleive in a supreme being. I believe that religion divides people, but belief unites them. I do not support christianity because of the way that it was imposed on our continent, our people. Those conquistadors came with guns and swords and demanded that the indigenous peoples convert, or die. I cant support that. Now heres my question: why is it that most if not all socialists are non religious? I know Stalin wasnt, Castro isnt, etc. thanks comrades

Go to the religion sub-forum in the Opposing Ideologies forum. There's always a debate going on about if communists can be religious or why communism and religion don't go together, etc...

No communists are theists, as theism and communism are directly counterposed. But, as Lazar said, this debate is already going on (seemingly continuously) in the Religion forum.

Religion and communism are opposites you cannot be both.

Communists believe that their are no leaders and there is total equality with no authority dictating over peoples lives.

What is a god? someone who is higher than everyone else, someone you worship and praise.

Opposites.

I think marx said something to this effect:

If god did exist, it would be the job of all the communists to overthrow him and create a level playing field.

GOD DOESNT EXIST
ORGANISED RELIGION IS ORGANISED CRIME

Because religion is irrational and historically has served little purpose other than to preserve the status of those in power.
