what are your opinions on john zerzan? in my opinion he is a hypocritical idiot. he says that launguage and arts are oppressive? arts?!?

Interesting and fairly intelligent guy. I won't say I believe in anything he does, though. He is indeed the Avakian of Primitivism.

I enjoy Zerzan the same way I enjoy Baudrillard. Their theories are interesting and maybe even accurate, but they have no relevance to the real world and as such they should be kept in philosophical discussions.

I do like Zerzan's advocacy of property destruction, though. He's actually a really nice and interesting guy to talk to, I've met him. Cute, too. :P

I just bough his book, 'Against Civilisation' but I generally think his ideas are absurd.

There is a part of the "anarchist" scene that would call themselves anti-civilisation and/or Primitivists, although it amounts to the same thing I suppose.
