View Full Version : Coldplay...
Led Zeppelin

I have noticed that most people who say they dislike Coldplay still like their "Clocks" song, they should because it's fucking amazing, but I wanted to know if there are any people out there who like "Clocks" and any of their other songs.
Vote people, vote.
Oh, I voted Yes, Clocks and Fix You, Everything's Not Lost, Yellow, The Scientist, Trouble, Speed of Sound, Shiver, What If, Square One, White Shadows, Moses, Amsterdam, Warning Sign, Daylight and Sparks. (in no particular order)

Although I don't have any of their albums, I have liked every single they have released. The worst song I thought was Speed of sound, but it was still an OK song.

Uh!
Speed of Sound was great. I liked a lot of the first album, most of the second and I haven't got third one.

I like what I have heard from Coldplay.
Though, I have never really been urged to buy any of their albums.

The Scientist.
Their music isn't too bad but it all sounds kind of the same, in a non-amusing way.

Coldplay have some great songs, and I have seen them live, but I think they are a little 'samey' if you know what I mean...

I have all their albums.. (not all legally tho...)
and I don't really like Clocks, because it's been raped in all possible ways here in Iceland...
I like most of the songs though, although Coldplay's songs are really repetetive

Don't worry, no doubt they'll be showing up in the bargain bins (where they belong) within a year or so.

They are boring, mindless and emotionless.
There isn't a shred of feeling in any of their songs, no excitement, just some middle class wankers placying nice songs.
Eurgh.

Don't worry Digital Nirvana, lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you.

I like some of what have heard, and have seen them playing at Glastonbury, but I don't think they deserve anywhere near as much recognition as they get.
I have heard every album, and although the new direction is less whiny I am still not a big fan. Scientist (and most of what was listed) are decent tracks. Just not amazing.

I quite enjoy the Parachutes album, my favourite song would have to be Yellow.

Their songs are likeable enough on the radio, but too bland for me; they just don't build to anything.
When Coldplay first came out I thought that they were just a boring ripoff of Travis. Where are poor old Travis? Their songs are so much more interesting! :P

Where are Travis? They're doing stuff now as a boring ripoff of Coldplay who, as you say, were a boring ripoff of Travis who back then were a boring ripoff of Oasis.

Coldplay is cool, but they are too....bland for me, as Mujer Libre said. Sometimes when I hear their songs I feel a bit queasy inside, I don't know why. I also kinda feel sick or like throwing up.
As contradicting as it may seem, I like some of their stuff, I haven't heard Clocks  but I like Yellow, Speed of Sound, In my place, and Trouble.

the only critizism i have is they're starting to put out albums without any contrast or variation, their songs are sounding really similar lately...

THat all the songs sound the same or that the guy is tone deaf?
And my comment about Oasis being a bad rip off of the Beatles was in no way intended as a slam against the Beatles.
And if Coldplay is the future of rock music then those will be some pretty dark days. I went back and downloaded a few songs and listened to them again with an open mind and my conclusion is the same they suck, the singer sucks. I'm guessing they get played on the radio quite a bit. They have a "radio friendly" (non-threatening) sound. Hence their wide appeal.

Coldplay add nothing to modern music. They are mind-numbingly boring and intolerable.
They are the kind of bland crap that is getting far too common these days. Its not that I don't like that kind of music - I really like RadioHead's latest album, but Coldplay are just boring.

That the fellow is tone deaf.
As for those laying into coldplay, well sure they aren't any British Sea Power, but I'll take Coldplay over some shitty hip-hop or RnB pop artist who pollutes the airwaves with unispiring tame beatless shite.

Coldplay may not be the best rock act there is but like what Enigma said, I'd rather listen to them that senseless hiphop schlock who just talks about sex, money and women (I have nothing against black artists though). I especially like Sparks, it has depressing and mystical quality in it.

That's not all hip hop, just the shit that's on TV. The companies decide what gets played though, so unless you dig, it's all you'll every see.
PS. Coldplay sucks, as does almost all rock made after the 70's came to a close. And to say hip hop is "beatless" is ridiculous, I can't even counter it because it's so baseless.

I was reffering to the poppy elements of RnB with that point, which in many cases does actually appear to have no beat to it I can detect, just some lady or gent singing. I was also reffering to the pop element of these genre's, as underground hip-hop is excellent.
In terms of what actually gets onto the radio, I will take Coldplay over the various other pop artists out there.
If you think that all rock after the 70's is crap, then you know nothing about rock music.

Should I feel lucky that you included the Beatles?? Even then I'm not a huge fan I own no actual recordings by the Beatles probably not even an mp3. As for the other two acts, I can say without hesitation that there likely is not a single song from either's catalog that I would tolerate for more than a few seconds if it came on the radio.
It really sucks when people are willing to settle for shit over shittier.

COldplay!! I dunno why i never thought of starting a thread about them. Cus they are one of my favourite bands. I love them...I love them...i really really do love them. I have all their albums, and their video clips are so damn cool too. You gotta check out the clips for The scientist, God put a smile upon your face, Yellow and in my place.
Speaking of their albums, i think parachute and Rush of blood to the head are the best ones compared to the latest Speed of sound. Though my friend doesn't agree with me. :D
