I wasn't really sure where to put this on the forum... we should add a "What-if" or a "Speculation" subtopic in chit-chat or something.
So here's my "what if" situation to consider. If there was a revolution in another country, and if you had the option, would you stay in your home country and try and utilize the revolution somewhere elese to try and promote revolution in your country (or at least stay and try and rally people to not let their country engage in any counter-revolutionary attacks or invasions of the new revolution) or would you move to the country where the revolution happened and try and protect that revolution there?
Personally I think it's not too important (a bridge to cross when we come apon it). But I suppose, if I had the ability and the resources,I would want to a least try and visit the revolution and then come back and try and aide the cause of world revolution by continueing to promote it here.

I think it really depends where the revolution was happening. If there was a revolution tomorrow in a South American country, I would be useless as I don't speak a bit of Spanish or Portuguese.
However if there was a revolution in say Scotland or Ireland. I would be more than willing to go and help and due to how close they are to where I am and that there are no language barriers involved. There shouldn't be that many obstacles.
Though I think all of us have a duty to try and support revolutions in far away places by organising and informing people about the situation and therefore trying to pressure the Government into not meddling in the situation.
Though as with every "what if" question, everything we say will be speculation and we have no way of knowing what we would actually do should the situation arise.

It would also depend a lot on the nature of the revolution. In a messy and protracted civil war, a la Russia, aid from foreign volunteers may play a vital role. You’d also have to ask what form of aid - direct, reforming the International Brigades, or indirect aid, fundraisers and awareness events back home, would be most useful to the cause. Personally I like the idea of revolutionaries travelling abroad to fight, or at least to learn, battlefield contact and experience is proven to be one of the most efficient ways of spreading a “radical” ideology.

Im not sure, Revolution in Ireland could bring language barriers because it may be nationalistic in nature.
Heres a question for you. More of a "when it comes" question. A kind of "get ready" question. If revolution were to be made possible in the UK and started in towns across the country in small scale but decisive attacks and it was declared in the name of freedom, would you join it? Would you help it become a national or even international movement? Seeing war in front of you a few years from now that could end capitalism forever, would you join it at risk of death?

I'd have to see how it's working or how it's not working. The Nazis were the Socialist Party, but that doesn't mean Socialists are Nazis. If a revolution SEEMED to be in good interest, I wouldn't join it too quick. I wouldn't want to fight all that far and find out the leaders were corrupt or something :-\. I'd just have to see the effects of it and all that stuff.
But I'd love to be a "global Revolutionary" like the ones I read about. Fight a revolution, go fight another revolution, repeat. :P
