Was just wondering, sparked from a thread asking about political parties in Cuba. In Cuba theres only the official communist party, si? Well, isn't that right, I mean in theory once a state has turned to communism like Cuba 'has' is theres a need for other parties. But...under communism, should there not be parties for branches of communism? Or does it depend on how society is structured to how politics would function.

Capitalism is a social structure and it has many politcal parties, even ones opposing capitalism. Would communism have parties opposing it?

Is it right to restrict the number of political parties?

Would there exist parties like they do now, for instance in UK theres Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrats as the leading parties, would there be these parties under communism? I think it would change drastically.

Capitalism is not a political system; it is an economic system.

Well first of all I think it really depends on the country, capitilist economy neither means democracy nor what exact for of it and socialist countrys (or those claiming to be) have very different political systems too.

One point you actually got wrong no matter in capitalist or socialist (there aint any communist country around on this planet) countrys partys are tolerated that oppose their constitution. Good example would be during the time of the time when germany was split supporters of the DKP (german communist party) were excluded of jobs in public service like teaching.

I guess you can leave it to the people what exact form of communism and what form of peoples rule they choose. One party with many differences (like in cuba) or two partys with few differences (like in the U$) both can turn undemocratic, both can turn out well i would say as long as the people use the given oppurtunities

Sorry, made that error of classing capitalism and communism as political structures, was freudian slip.
