Hey,
I still not sure what branch of the left suits me best so perhaps you guys could help me.
The following statements are my beliefs.

-I believe in class conflict.
-I believe no land should be owned.
-I believe a revolution could bring communism, but reform could help in the meantime.
-I believe that the choice of an abortion, using drugs/alcohol is up to the individual.
-I believe a true communist state has never existed.
-I believe in freedom of speech.
-I believe members of a Parliment/Congress/etc should represent the people who voted for them
-I believe the death penalty is wrong - Every person has the right to live.
-I believe death ends life in all ways, I don't believe in afterlife or God/Devil.
-I believe nuclear weapons should not be used in war.
-I believe private education and private healthcare are wrong.
-I believe energy and water should be nationalised.
-I believe the state should provide from families as much as possible.
-I believe discrimination on grounds of race and gender are wrong.
-I believe the future will essentially be classless compared to today's world.
-I believe in dialectics.
-I believe communism in one country will probably fail - needs support from other countries.
-I believe in democracy
-I believe inheritance of the rich should be abolished.

Not sure what else to say. Ask any other questions if you need more answers, but someone please tell me where they think I'm aligned caus its confusing me.

<Also, could this kind of thread be useful to new-comers, if we gave them a set of questions from which we could help them identify what kind of leftist they are?>

Depends, you could either be a Reform "Communist" or Council Communist depending on how revolutionary you are.

I recently discovered I'm also pro-worker's council and pro-vanguard.
And apparently a Trotskyist, which I think would be the right place to place me :P

Instead of dividing ourselves into different branches of communism, we should all unite. I call myself a communist, nothing more, nothing less. I hope you see my point of view.

I call myself a communist, nothing more, nothing less.

I call myself nothing at all. My views are simply based on how I experience the world.

What Am I?

A human being.

Holy shit! I'm a human being? <_<

Fist of Blood, essentially, I would support the majority of leftist movements, however I feel the need to figure out where my beliefs point me so I can read that kind of theory and develop my thoughts. I guess I'll be reading other points of view, but I am what I am and can't help it if I prefer one group over another.

I see your point of view, comrade. I just classify myself a communist. I see socialism working better in bigger nations before progressing towards Communism, but people say it will revert back. I see it as a middle ground to rid of the old class system to progress those towards equality :che:

Well, from a brief glance, looks like I believe in everything you do. As most likely the majority of people here. But then again, that was really brief and generalized. When things become more detailed then more differences come out.

But the only sure fire way to find out what kind of socialist you are, is to take this test.

According to that test I'm 'Democratic Marxist'. Which I could also see. Its weird how much branches overlap.

But, I'm at the stage of the day (its 01:19 here in the UK) where it doesnt seem to matter so much anymore, I'm just meeeeeee. Happy and proud.

Welcome.

Although im always suspicious of people that basically say "I am everything you want me to be" makes it seem like they are an infiltrater of some sort....I dunno, I didn't get much sleep last night because I just got back from London, and as a result, have had 4 mugs of coffee in the past 3 hours...paranoid much.

Dude, you talk to me on msn lol. I'm not an infiltrator of any sort, i could take pics of my room and post them which would show poster of guevara, number books on leftism, pics of trotsky/allende/castro/guevara on my wall also :P

That thing called me a DeLeonist and Trotskyist!
Not even the RedApollo test dared to call me that!
And the test had very wrong questions...
Do you think ==>COMMUNIST<== USSR was better then capitalist America.
1st of that doesn't say much about someone political views, everybody from trotskyist (true trots, not the wanabee's) to Juche-communist thinks it's better then capitalist America...
And 2nd the United ==>SOCIALIST<== Soviet Republics were not communist.
Much more can be said about that worthless test... but i refuse too...

Yeah, apparantly Im an anarchist too. And the quiz NEVER lies.

So I guess I better start busting out the Bakunin and the Kropotkin. Maybe if Im feeling "ballsy" I will get into some Malatesta.

Hey, I have had a hard time finding my place, I resolved to be against what communists were depicted as, vanguardists, and claimed myself to be a Democratic Socialist. Though not like most Social Democrats, I still felt that it was in revolution from which new society emerged, that Democratic Socialist was describing how I felt the system should be, not of its achievement. I studied council communism at a glance, and found it best describes my ideas, and is closest to the workers' interest, not "the party's". I do not tie myself to specific affiliations, however, and always keep an open mind attuned to all thats around me, and do not deny myself certain literature because it opposes my views. Remember that knowledge is not harmful, and it is not the information that threatens your position, it is the repression of it. Knowledge will only strengthen your ideas, and provide understanding. If you analyze too critically, you may end up being critical of all, and even yourself. So keep your wits about you, and understand whats around you, learn from whatever you can, and never be satisfied with what is handed to you, always reach for more.

You sound like a Democractic Socialist; with the revolutionary tendancy, which is one of the wings of the SPUSA.
