I started reading Catch 22 the other day, and I'm about 70 pages in.

It's boring me out of my mind. I don't follow it, at all. Is it supposed to be horrible and then pick up later on?

I'll admit I did find myself cracking up at times, but other than that it's just boring.

Anyways, I returned it to the library today and checked out Brave New World instead.

It's one of my favorite books - Milo is the quintessential war-profiteer!

I think just the time-line of the book is hard to figure out at first. Generally I think with fiction it takes about 100 pages to actually get into the flow of it.

I suggest trying it again the next time you have some frree-time like over the holiddays. I think all the stuff about the military man-power being streached-thin and upping the number of missions that people have to go on would be extreemly relevant at this time when similar things are happening in Iraq.

It also shows that people were fed-up and hated even the so-called "good war".

I thought the book was great and scarry and funny... ironically I never finished "brave new world" because I couldn't get into it.

I found it to be a great satire about the mangerial insanity of bourgeoisie militaries. Once you get close to finishing the book, watch "The Fog Of War":

It was mind blowing to see the insanity in the book personified.

Im reading A Brave New World right now and I like it. Good book so far. That reminds me, I need to renew that book before I get late charges.

It just has some many classicly funny elements that highlight the bizzarre and stupiditity in war and how people just want to survive.

I tried reading it. It was hard and like others said, boring. But I didn't get too far and that was all the way back in the 10th grade soooo I might give it another shot who knows.
