I just recently started listening to this Hardcore band, but they are fucking amazing.

Does anyone else here listen to Trivium?

I wouldn't call them hardcore. Thier style of "[]-core" is much more like metalcore, in that they have riffs geared more towards classic metal, such as some of their solos, and also with the contrasting fast/slow elements - most metlacore seems like a dicotomy of fast heavy headbanding, then slowed down with the mellow singing in between - why some people even compare it to "nu-metal", however inaccurate that is.

Anyway, I find they are okay. Only have a few songs, but I think there is some talent though. Just wish they would stay away from the classic metal elements, as metalcore is supposed to be some sort of avant-garde movement of crossover hardcore and metal.

I dont really concider them Metalcore because from what I have heard, almost all metalcore is like playing Thrash metal at four times the normal speed with half of the instruments cutting out on occasion.

I also wouldnt concider them Nu-Metal. Nu-Metal is generally very poorly organized and written, with musicians that have mediocre amounts of talent at best. Nu-Metal seems to be more about selling your T-shirts than records.

Maybe you have a point. I just have heard some songs with thrash elements, but as I noted before, which along have the slow classic metal riffs too.

And they certainly aren't "nu-metal", as I do not find any hip-hip elements in their music.

Their new CD is actually very good if you are really into hardcore. If you are just an occasional listener, I would download a few certain songs that I will try to post tomorrow.

That's an interesting point you made I didn't think about properly.

If that is really what you believe, then that also negates them from being hardcore either. Essentially both sub-genres are crossovers of punk and metal, and indeed their differentiation is often hard to pick. Especially now. Despite hardcore originally being closer to punk, and metalcore closer to metal, both seem closer to metal these days (or at least, what is considered hardcore is).

Anyway, did you say you were going to link some of the mp3s BON? :)
