I was just thinking, in the future, when the era of the U$ finally comes to a close (it happens to every empire sometime), will we look back on it like we do Nazi Germany now? Will all the wrongs committed in the name of "freedom" finally be uncovered?
What new government will rise out of the ashes of the fallen country? A fair and just government, hopefully.
What do you guys think?

How we look back on the remnants of the US will depend very much on how the US fell. If it went out kicking and screaming- and nuking- then it will indeed be remembered worse than Nazi Germany.
But I do think no matter how it goes, history will one day remember the peace the US has is a false peace. And I think the atrocities and failures of the US will become standard history, just as the we can clearly see the wrongs of the Roman Empire- but your average Roman wasn't aware of all that then.

Yeah, it will really depend on how the U.S. goes down. I just hope the CIA archives are left untouched and then opened to the public =)

the U$A will probaby be remembered as the Roman Empire was, an imperialistic exploitative empire, Unless of course it falls like the British empire, where it just seeps the power to one of its allies.

Well, even today when they (US people - not all of them of course) look back on the Vietnam war, they admit it was a complete failure.
If only most US citizens could be able to travel to third world countries exploited by the US, they would start realizing what's really going on in the rest of world (apart from what biased media tells them to do some efficient brainwash).
Che, himself, started realizing man's exploitation after he saw the real Latin American exploited class during his two trips. (He had some theory, but reality is more effective)

Historians are people with their personal likes and dislikes. There are historians who "admire" the Roman Empire even though most regard it with sorrow if not contempt.
I imagine some aspects of the American Reich will find their appreciation--like the 3rd Reich, we ARE good at science and technology (the Romans were terrific road-builders).
But the horrors will predominate. EVERY country will have its museum of American atrocities...sort of like holocaust museums. America will take its well-earned place in the demonology of human history. Some will see this as tragedy...but what could you expect from a nation founded by slave-owners?

Redstar,
I like that museum idea a lot. From civilian massacres to secret murders, the world NEEDS to remember somehow.

I think the United States will collapse with-in the next 150 years. I’d love to see the United States collapses sooner but it isn’t realistic.
