The Millions More March

Thousands gathered on the National Mall in Washington for the Millons More March movement. Proposing more action to be taken for equality amongst whites and blacks.

I was watching it on C-Span. Very good speeches made by Sharpton and Afrakafan(spelled wrong). Although I didn't like the fact that they had rappers like Jim Jones there seeing that they advocate the exact opposite in their music.

I watched it on C-Span and I liked it. There was some anti-bush and some anti-capitalist viewpoints on it, but alaso quite a few muslim and nation of islam people as well. The attendance however was not as big as I had hoped for.

I didn't watch it, but its a good place to unite blacks...

Were there really rappers at the march??
If I was a member of the Nation, I would of kicked any commercial rapper that goes against uplifting black ppl outta of the march
The only mainstream rappers that I would allow would be:
Common - Mos Def - Talib Kweli

Malcolm > Farrakhan

i found the article really confusing and hard to read, is that just me? and didn't enlighten me much at all.

"We have more people in America living in poverty in 2005 than we had in 1995, so - in one sense - we have more reasons to march today than we did 10 years ago."
- Benjamin Chavis

and they say that capitalism is the way out of poverty.

Commercial rappers reach more heads than Def and Talib, why not let them be exposed to the march?

Hip-hop leaders helping to galvanize the movement include Reverend Run, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Damon Dash, Jermaine Dupri, Kanye West, Ludacris, LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, Common, Wyclef Jean, Missy Elliott, Foxy Brown, David Banner, Snoop Dogg, Ice T, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana and Jha Jha of the Diplomats, Masta P, Juvenile, Erykah Badu ?Questlove of The Roots, MC Lyte, Fab Five Freddy, Biz Markie, Kid Capri, Cassidy, the Wu Tang Clan, Xzibit, Tony Austin, Humpty Hump, the Ruff Ryders and dead prez, among others.

Kick all the commercial rappers out and you got like 4 people. Think about it.

Malcolm > Farrakhan

Got nothing to do with the march.

Immortal Technique is the best rapper out there right now. Atmosphere is also good, but different.

^Without a doubt!
Middle Passage coming out at the beginning of 06

Hampton:
Commerical rappers are counter productive to the movement, they're corrupting the minds of the youth - glorifying violence/sex/$$

My bad, forgot about Dead Prez

It doesn't matter if we got 1 "conscious" rapper...
One filthy commercial rapper can rot many young blacks...

I don't wanna see 50 at the march, after he's "beefed" with other black rappers, just to sell records
They're pawns in capitalism

I look up to Malcolm more than I do Farrakhan, IMO

You have to be from the Midwest to like atmosphere I guess, maybe not. I think some of his lyrics are just unbelievable. He rights about reality, which is more than I can say about most "rap artists." The new Atmosphere CD is good. Its called "you cant believe how much fun were having." But to get started you should pick up "The Lucy Ford LPs" or "Godlovesugly." He is a lyricist for sure.
