You could take a look here:

Many organizations have websites that will tell you about how they operate and what they believe.
I would suggest going to political events in your area and talking to activists in organizations and you'll get a better sense of what they are like in action and then you can read their papaers or websites and see if you agree with them.
What's the point of finding a group on the web that you agree with 100% but they don't do any real actions. It would be better to join an active organization that you agree with 80% and then try and argue about that 20% to see if thoes differences are irreconcilable (they believe that Greenland is the world's best example of Socialism in action and you don't believe this).
It would be usefull to figure out where you stand on some of the major divides in the communist movement:
- Do you think that socialism is necissary or can a revolution deliver a communist society at once.
- Do you think the USSR/China/Cuba was socialist?
- Do you think socialism can exist in one country?
- Do you think Western worker's are "bought-off"
- Do you think a revolution can be accomplished if it is lead by something other than the working class?
Anyway, you get the idea. Figureing out where you stand on some of these major issues will help you figure out what kind of organization you are looking for.

I would rather not get into particular groups I have been involved with here but the ideology story in general terms: I was a dissatisfied Democrat, then a Green, then an anachro-syndicalist and now a trotskyist.
Like I said, as long as an organization dosn't seem like a cult, it's better to join and become active (rather than sit around and wait for a group with "pure" politics that you agree with 100% of the time - that would actually be kind of creepy) because if you find their tactis or protocol or politics inrreconciably opposed to your own, you can always leave.
It's like anything: you won't know which sports you like to play if you only watch them; you won't know what kind of person is "your-type" untill you get out and start dateing. Now, that dosn't mean that you should join the first party you come across just like you shouldn't date the first person who says "hi" to you.

Discover who you are and you will know where you stand.
Then you will know where you should stand instead (if you wish to change).
Grave Digger had a good point about trying many groups before settling.
To tell you the truth, I had not thought of that when posting about this same topic in another thread.
But there is another thread around with this same topic which might prove to be of some use to you if you find it.
I can't remember exactly where it is, probably in Practice, but its fairly new so all you'd have to do is open the right Subject page.
Also, if you're interested, I recently started a thread called "Revolutionary Organization" in Practice which might prove of some good use to you.

Sorry, made a mistake, my thread is in Theory, not practice.

What country are you in ? If youre in the states I suggest that you look up the Communist League or Free Peoples Movement, they rep the interest's of the working class in that country.

Yes I am in the states. Thanks for the info on these organizations. The Communist League looks like a good organization. JC1, is the Communist League the equivalent of the CPC here in the US?
