View Full Version : Hate your job?

If you're like me, you probably work in a store for a bull-shit company for minimum wage. I hate it. I'm only working there to put myself through university and then I'm outta there. Any advice to sort of sabotage the company?
I'll start the ball rolling:
1) I've recently tried to start a union at the store. I'm trying to get support.. I have about 30% so far.. but I don't know if I can get enough. The managers will hate you, the company will hate you, but they will kiss your ass. It's wicked.
2) Overuse or destroy any sort of suplies you can (that the company pays for). For example, paper towel, windex, garbage bags, dish soap, floor cleaner, even things like toilet paper, pens, etc. This will make them pay for more and more supplies.
Any other advice? Even the littlest thing that can make a difference would be appreciated!

No! Don't destroy it! Take it!
Destroying just causes problems without a real payoff. Stealing allows you to socialize (or at least personalize) the machines. We don't want to destroy the wealth of the ruling class, we want to take it and use it for ourselves ;)

Stealing gets you fired. Destroy it.

destroying gets you fired as well and overuse is just plain wasteful

Nobody follows me into the bathroom. Once place I worked we got patted down every time we left the store though.

Yeah, definately.. stealing gets you fired. I gotta eat!
Yeah, I know too that overusing and destroying is a waste... but its company waste! They can pay for it!
Any other suggestions?

Fuck up their computer systems, run magnets along-side the towers, or melt their hard-drives with 'special' floppy disks.

not a good idea besides getting fired you also get charged and you would have to cover the cost of the damage

Personally I work at a family restaurant. I'm a dishwasher and only work like one night a week. Thats nice because I can lay around on my off days but then again I don't get a good check afterward. I also work with a bunch of fuckheads as well. I guess the bad outways the good but then again we can blame Bush for the shit economy in the US <_<.

this is good stuff! wow.. imagine listening to everyone talk about how the computers are mysteriously "malfuntioning".
Unfortunately, we've got cameras EVERYWHERE. Down every aisle, pointing at every computer, every cash register.

Stealing or "Liberating" paper towels, pens, and anything else you can easily grab without risk of being caught is worth it. It's a balence: don't steal a cumputer or anything that will immediately get noticed or cause them to install security cameras.

Um, you don't get caught.
Easy to say most stores store their products in a backroom which is kept locked except during working hours if something goes missing during that time its not hard to track down who took it

Well my suggestion was to fuck up their computer systems with magnets and 'special' floppy disks- that doesn't require access to a backroom, or stealing anything- such that the company would 'track' me down.

Yeah.. we're pretty much a slave to capitalism until the revolution. The only way we're not is if we DONT BUY ANYTHING. Now, in this side of the world that is impossible.. considering we would die in three days without buying water. (No, I don't trust the creeks in my area). So we're all pretty much stuck in dead end jobs working for companies that we despise (at least for us students).
But I thought of a few more:
We have a staff room kitchen... and someone fucked up the drain real bad. It wouldn't drain anything.. so they had to call in a plumber (paid for by the company!) to take everything apart. It turns out there were 6 plastic knives down the drain pipe!
So this gave me some ideas. Why stop there? Why not flush things like this down toilets?
How about company provided things like coffee makers, microwaves, water coolers, etc.? Fuck up all these things.. and they WILL replace them! Paid for by the boss! (Cha ching!)

I hated my corporate job as well . . . so I quit, moved to Acorn (http://www.acorncommunity.org), and have been getting by without dumping a ton of money into the capitalist markets to feed and shelter myself.
It is so nice to be able to wake up whenever, do whatever work I feel like doing that day, and have the effort I put into my work be directly related to my quality of life.
We have room for a few more people, and would esp. like to have anyone skilled in gardening, accounting, mechanics, and/or databases over for a visit then, if it works out, as a member.
By wasting paper towles, you are helping the paper towel company.
If you want to make a difference through being destructive, a gallon of gas (depending on the size of the store/warehouse) and a match should do the trick.

Wow, I never knew such a place existed. I've kind of always had a picture in my mind of what a perfect life would be, and that's pretty much it. Congrats on an awesome way of life.

You're right on that one. That's probably not the BEST way to get back at the company I work for.
