THINK ABOUT THE POLITICAL IMPLICATIONS OF THE EVENT...IF A SOVIET FLAG HAD BEEN PLACED INSTEAD OF THE AMERICAN FLAG, MEANING THE SOVIETS HAD WON THE SPACE RACE, IT MENT, POLITICALLY SPEAKING THAT COMMUNISM WON...COMMUNISM WAS BETTER...
OH, GOD, IF THE RUSSIANS HAD THE CHANCE....
JOKING NOW, I THINK THAT THE COMMUNIST ALIENS ARE PISSING ON IT RIGHT NOW!

would people still have debates based on "science" about whether the moon landing happened or not?

Keep in mind too that it's a ridiculous notion that whoever got there first 'won' anything. Landing on the moon means nothing, and proves nothing about which is better.

Why is the moon the final destination to be won? Why not, instead of the moon, we try to reach a place called equality, justice, and freedom. Now getting there would be something worth talking about.

Ya.

And consider how many resources they wasted try to get there while people starve and poverty reigns.

True. Stupid Space race.

The moon landing, I saw it as a waste of money.
Yet I got this with a lot of space " exploring ".

I dont care what the climate on Mars is, try to make the health
care better instead of trying to figure that out.

Escaping problems, claiming you can discover the universe.

Lame excuse.

Yeah, when I heard that the module, just the module, for the space station cost over a billion dollars I felt sick to my stomach.

But we also need to remember that one of the major reasons behind all this money spent on 'space exploration' is actually the military. Who knows what devastating new weapon we could figure out by that kind of research? Not to mention military satellites, those are important if you want to watch the world as closely as the US does.

I agree with you all, comrades...!

Why the fuck caring about the moon, Mars or whatever, having what we all have here on Earth? So stupid, and, specially, so greedly!

I want this Earth, this unique Blue Marble to be a place where all of us may live in community, sharing goods among us, sharing our wills and projects in a common area, sharing our only, precious lives...

The Soviets DID win the space race. The period of time when both nations scientists were working equally diligently on the exact same project ended in Soviet victory with the launching and Earth orbiting of Sputnik. Landing on the moon was quickly dismissed by the USSR as a waste of money...which it clearly was.

What I think would be a better project to pull off now would be for the next big communist state (China? or even a post-revolution India) to send unmanned drones to the Moon and unravel a massive acryllic sheet (it needs not be strong or heavy, there is no wind on the moon and the side that faces us receives virtually no collisions by meteorites) in the form of a huge red star...

We should colonize other planets, we should never hold back progress, just not damage people in the process.

Well we are all in luck comrades, NO ONE LANDED ON THE MOON IN 1969. Look at it in a scientific point of view. Have any of you actually saw the moon landing? And if you have notice the American flag is waving??!!! let me tell you something...

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AIR AND WIND ON THE MOON.

I think i proved my point. And it was not special effects to make it look "patriotic". IN YOUR FUCKIN FACE NEIL ARMSTRONG.

The flag is waving BECAUSE IT HAD A PIECE OF WOOD SHORTER AT THE TOP THAN THE FLAG INSELF, Everyone at the time who saw the moonlanding saw this and thought, oh look isn't that pretty, they're making it look like it's waving.

I think the same! Why should we all waste time and money just to go to a plant? They you could use that money for other important things like in homeless people and helping nations and make all of us live in peace. You know what they should put in space? All the nukes of the world, so that we can live in a nuke free world.

Oh God, not this "the moon landing was a hoax" again. I've studied enough geology to know that the rocks they brought back proved without a doubt that there were there. That kind of rock is not found on Earth and has been verified as being the real deal by scientists all over the world.

Space exploration is definitely important for humanity. Yes, it is a blatent waste of money in many areas, and until we make it generate profits, mining etc... it will remain so. But once this earth becomes uninhabitable, either through impact by a foreign body (asteroid) or the death of the sun, everything that humanity has lived, strived, and suffered for will become worthless unless our race expands to other systems.

i never said anything they gained something,anything..
it was a question of pride, of capitalism vs. communism...
believe me this was how it was regarded....
it was a complete waste of money, but the asshole americans tried to proove that they were better than the russians and they can first set foot on the moon...

I believe that the Soviets had orbited the moon before we got there. I'm pretty sure that they even landed a robotic rover there. They probably could have landed a man there if they wanted to throw away all the resources associated with it. The US went for ego. They didn't want to look bad in the eyes of the public. After all....everyone in the US was told that the Russians were inferior and that communism creates lazy people with no drive.

I agree with you 100%

Although it is more important to create a perfect utopia here on earth I don't see a problem with space exploration once the above has been achieved.

As lenin said, when everyone is equal and happy we then shall pave the streets with gold. (I didn't fully understand that quote untill now.)

But I wonder if Independance day would begin with the camera panning by the soviet flag if the soviets got to the moon first.
