Im not sure whether many non Brits on this forum will be aware but now i know why you cant see why Britain is ready for revolution.
One major factor that will draw the people to the cause is the existance of our voting system (First past the post). This system is unrepresentive and unproportionate of the electorate. Its bad enough that we have "three flavours of conservatism" as someone put it but we also have a system where the majority party usually has alot more seats than they won in the election. For example, in 1983 when the liberal party was reformed, they won 25% on the nations votes but only gained 23 seats in parliament out of about 600. This system is unrepresentative and gives new parties a low chance of gaining any seats at all. This is why the communist parties never win any seats.
Because we are not represented (young people and ethnic minorities in particular) many of us are unhappy and mistrustful of politics. Our votes do not count. It will not be long before all the factors add up and revolution is made a reality.
