View Full Version : Bullshit Citation

So I was given a citation this morning for a rolling stop through a stop sign by some pig.
The first odd thing I noticed was that he didn't have the siren on, only the flashing lights... hmm.

Anyway; he wrote the citation for the street before my turn... a stop sign I didn't even drive by.

Also, this was going on to a busy street and I'm thinking I might have even let a car pass before I turned... so I'm not sure how I could have not stopped... (!?)

I suppose if I try the court, I'm SOL for the $44 fee?

 Thoughts on what I should do? Information on laws, stipulations?

where are you? and what does SOL mean?

most cases i've seen for traffic violations [except for dui's] have been dismissed so maybe it's worth it?

how much would the fine be?

Lincoln, Nebraska.

SOL = Shit Out of Luck

Yeah; I'm considering going to court.

It is a $50 fine and if I want to not get fucked over on car insurance, I might be able to take a STOP class and pay $75 to waste 8 hours of my life.

Take it to court, if the cop doesn't show up on your court date there is no evidence against you and its dropped. Odds are he won't show up, they work a lot of hours and don't like going to court because a lot of times even when they show up its dropped.
You could probably submit a formal complaint even after that with the court official or whatever, talk to a secretary while your there to see what you can do.
Good luck with it.

Thanks Frig, I should enquire soon... maybe now. Do you know if I am simply out the $44 if I go to court or do I get off cost if it is dropped? I really would enjoy fucking them over; opportunist assholes. Oh, yeah and if I go to court, can I still take a STOP class? Hmm...

Cops can be shits sometimes. I once saw one driving about 50 through my subdivision with just his lights on, not his sirens. I thought, a little kid could just walk out into the road and he couldv'e gotten mowed over by the cop. Actually anyone could have just wandered into the street for any reason and gotten killed.

Cops will use their lights around here to get to restaraunts faster.

hey heres more shit from cops for you kids. I've seen cops run out of restaraunts claiming emergencies, without paying of course, get out their cars pass around high fives, and calmly drive away. In Ohio, dunno about elsewhere, but if a cop is involved in an accident, no matter what his/her roll in it, it is the other persons fault, even if the officer is intoxicated ( I think) they can get a citation for being intoxicated, and probably lose their position, but the accident is not their fault.

I think you might get the money back, I don't know for sure, but it is cleared from your record, if you don't get the money back you may get a "courtesy" so you wouldn't have to pay your next ticket, but that would be on your record.
A STOP call?

It won't effect my insurance apparently, so I think I will just throw the $50 away <_<

A STOP call?

Sorry; typo!

I really have no idea bout the class. If it doesn't effect your insurance i guess all is well, still might be worth it to file a complaint but who knows
