So I've been talking with my buddy Don who is in New Orleans helping out the anarchist/leftist/pagan relief teams and medics at the Common Ground Collective, and we started wondering about if there had ever been an example of radical-led disaster relief like this in the past?

We know for sure that Common Ground is unprecedented, and I personally can't think of anything off the top of my head, but I'm sure that throughout the history of the movement there have been examples of such things. The CP was large enough in this country alone that it simply has to have been involved in some type of aid work during natural disasters of decades past.

Does anybody recall any specific examples?
