What effect would the banning of guns have in America?

Would gun crime be driven down as it no-one would be allowed to carry a gun?

Or is the gun culture too deeply ingrained into the US population resulting in an influx of Black-market guns?

Yeah, americans would never give up their guns. Much of their culture is made up of owning and using a gun. Be it for hunting, posing with or killing people. They would feel that they are losing their power when a gun is taken off them. Man, they fucking love guns. Yet they say that it's an old law that they want to keep, that every american should own a gun. Why the Fuck? If none owned guns they wouldn't all need to keep them. More people are killed by their own family or schoolfriends than a burglar being shot. Alot more. They're bloody dumbasses, usually its some idiot weilding a gun and just pointing it anywhere or at anyone that gets the normal gun-nut sterotype. True as well. A law they want to keep, don't give me that shit, they like to re-write or invent new laws whenever it suits them.

As for the effects of taking away guns, they would be driven to the black-market, and it would probably be quite acceptable too. The roblem would probably get worse too, with mainly criminals being able to get their hands on a gun.

"...now they suggest the ban of TOY guns, but they're going to keep the fucking REAL ones!"

We have too many damned NRA freaks over here for guns ever to even be efficiently controlled. There's a joke that the real leader of the USA is Charlton Heston, and I'm starting to believe it.

People should keep guns, I think. The creators of the Bill of Rights, figured that since the millitary would exist, people would actually need guns to defend themselves in case of an emergency. Ofcourse their are horrible negatives, but I can understand the concept of owning a gun.

I've spoken to some of these crazy right winger chaps during my travels, and I find the common reason is, that way the power will always remain in the hand of the people, because they are the majority.

They said to me, imagine in Ireland, some guy from the IRA comes up to me with a gun, and the cops aren't around, what the hell do I do?

Off course the ironic thing is, most of those folks don't have any power, because they're lower class themselves.

There are legitimite reasons for having gun control, but if Ireland were to suddenly relinquish control, the place would go absoluty haywire within a short time. The murder rate is really starting to climb over here, and I don't think we need farmer's with their guns driving into the city centre in their tractors. (they're doing it soon in without guns, fuckers).

guns..knives...home made explosives....very very sharp vegetables...

It won't fucking matter if we ban guns..it's not like we are banning the negative side of human nature. Like someone on the board said "I don't think a gun makes a murderer I think killing someone does" I probably fucked that quote up ALOT but...

My point is...you can't fix a heroin addict by taking away heroin. Plus if you watch Bowling for Columbine you'll see that guns have nothing to do with it...I think media is a larger part-how they encourage us to use them badly. I mean look at the death by gun rating in canada ect. And they have just as much if not more guns than us.
