i'm glad ive found this forum, it completes my forum list of the politcal spectrum. basically, im here for open debate about anything. before this, i was a regular at moderate and conservative web forums, and ive found that ive learned alot there. i hope that i can learn more from the left at this forum. sooo...

politically, im a conservative, or a classical-liberal if thats how you care to look at it. i enjoy debate about nearely anything, from social, economic, and foriegn policies. i hope i can learn form being here

am i allowed to have a conservative viewpoint in any of the forums except for the opposing idealogies forum? will i get banned or anything if i argue capitalism anywhere?

anyways, im looking forward to being here.

btw, i'm starting at the University of Texas next semester, i'm going to be philosophy major. i live in dallas.

You might. I think you mentioned that you weren't here to start crap and were just sort of browsing around, so they might be lenient. I wouldn't restrict you, but that's just me.

Pro-capitalist arguments will see you restricted to OI, not banned. Banning is (usually) reserved for fascists/other highly authoritarian individuals/racists/homophobes/sexists etc.

What is restriction, and what is the Opposing Ideologies forum?

Restriction is a measure the membership uses to focus the debate on this site. We are a group of progressive Leftists, after all. That is about as much as many of us have in common however. We disagree on how the society we envision will work, how best to emancipate the workers and many other issues. We need to debate these things respectfully, amongst ourselves. So we restrict debate about whether we should emancipate the workers at all to the Opposing Ideologies forum.

This is where all right-wingers are sent. This is where anyone who is too disruptive to proper debate is sent. There are other reasons for being restricted to OI of course, but generally, it requires behavior that is deemed in conflict with the membership's vision for this site.
