Socialsmo o Muerte

As I go into my third year at University, I've reached the peak of my discontent at our bollocks that we call the Union.
I heard a story the other day about girls having the work for sex phone lines to pay their fees. I thought this was disgusting. Until I heard other girls were performing online for men who pay them to do whatever just so they can get by in University. Again I found this sick.
Many students work two jobs just to get the money to pay their way through University.
If we have the "biggest Union" and all this rubbish, WHY is nothing being done?
I was browsing through the Student union "campaigns" and activities recently. They are as follow:
Environment Campaign
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans Campaign
Students With Disabilities' Campaign
Discounts for Students Campaign
Anti-War Student Group Campaign
Students Against War
Ok, now these are things that need adressing, of course. But whether or not a campaign to support gay and transexual people is as important as seriously campaigning and lobbying government to drop fees and ensure lower living costs for students is questionable.
As for the anti-war stuff; don't even get me started. Anti-war marches have just become something to kill afternoon for most twat students.
It does more than infuriate me. Does way more than rile me. I walk around and see straight through these clearly rich kids talking about how broke they are. Yet they can oh so easily get their gladrags on and spend the night in a swanky bar.
The NUS claims to have "strength through Unity" but I would propose that it is the most divided union in the country. Because most are so self-absorbed that they couldn't give a fuck about the aforementioned girls selling their bodies online.
I thought that the only reason the Union isn't doing enough to help students (I mean actually help students, not get them Topshop discounts) is that the leaders must be rich, content and selfish people. The type who seek position in office just for prestige, not for any greater good. I went searching but couldn't find any information.
The purpose of my post is to see how many agree with me and how many would seriously become active in a PROPER breakaway union. I have been involved in small groups in Cardiff where I study, but nothing ever progresses. Is it just me with this hatred of the crappy NUS?
