Guns aren't only for killing people, shooting is a legitimate sport, one of the safest in the world.
I practice this sport since i am 10 years old, and i never think about killing somebody with my gun.

guns control is bullshit i think.
IN our country you basically cant have a gun unless it is on your property. It says you cant even carry around somethng that looks like a gun, without a special permit. I wish we had a constituion that gave us the right to bare arms.
I like the old t shirt slogan "guns dont kill people, i kill people"
shooting is fuckin wicked, Ive been doing it since i was about 9-10 too, i love bringing down wild goats, wasting possums and rabbits (they are pests in our land)
i wanna try archery too, after Lord of the Rings im fascinated with it.

what about for "protection"? I work with a guy who believes you have to be able to carry around a gun at all times to "protect" yourself. Personally I believe that will just lead to more deaths. I belive that people who use guns for sport are ok but many of these people who want to "protect thier family" i have a problem with.

yes, people who want used gun for protection are dangerous. In fact, they don't know really how used their gun and an accident could happen.
For terrorists or muderers, i don't think a law against gun could be really effective.

Yeah I agree with most of you. I know this sounds clichéd but 'guns don't kill people, people kill people'. *
I have this strange theory that either:
1. EVERYONE should be armed or
2. NO-ONE should be armed.
I would prefer the latter.

as bombeverything said
"1. EVERYONE should be armed or
2. NO-ONE should be armed."
its tru because if u use gun control the "bad guys"(criminals who want ur ASS) WILL find a way to get a gun to kill u with, if the normal person has a gun, at least the poor soul has a chance to kill his attacker
and i think guns need to be available to anyone who wants one
it is also a sport as some1 mentioned earlier, and it is a safe one too, ( i really need to go the shooting range more often) (cause my aim is terrible)
i also think ppl should be educated in guns, so as not to miss an attacker, and gun safety, always keep safety on while no1 dangerous is around, or when u are using it
all in all guncontroll is bullshit

I think nobody should have guns. I believe they should all be destroyed. They only cause damage and end lives. Any monkey could see this.

*Sigh*
Honestly, if we destroy the guns, people will use knives, then sticks and stones, and finally, everything else aside, their bare hands.
That said, I think it should be reasonably difficult to get guns, though not impossible - we're seeing a rather disturbing trend of people going on rampages because they're pissed off and happen to have a gun, which probably wouldn't have happened otherwise. Especially with racist lunatics running around. I mean, more than usual.

Guns are the people's only hope. They are what need liberate us from the yoke of Capitalism. So then, I am against gun control, even after a succesful revolution. For in no other way can the people defend themselves from the potential opressiveness of the state.

Right. Just like Queen of Diamonds pointed out:

Don't people kill others by throwing stones, like in Nigeria, for instance?

I am definitely for gun control.
Look at the statistics. A member of the CIA was quoted as saying that in America there is 250 000 000 guns for a population of 288 000 000. That is extremely excessive to begin with. Secondly in only 2% of instances where a home owner believes there is a burgler in their house, is that actually true. And the statistics prove that you or a member of your family are more likely to be killed if there is a gun in your house.
I'll use an example from my life. Months ago I was at uni, doing my school thing. About 4 doors down a guy with numerous non-sporting pistols goes ona rampage killing two students and injuring others. Now, why on earth would that man need five non-sporting pistols? What purpose could they possibly serve? Also, would that have been poossible with a knife? absolutely not.
"Guns don't kill people, people kill people" True, being that a gun is an object. I don't care how controlled you think you are, there is ALWAYS a possibility of your primal being coming to the fore.
Trust me here comrades, I used to agree with you. I was part of the SSAA (sporting shooters association of australia) i know the rules and regulations that are concerned with safe storage. I know from my three years with the SSAA, that few of the laws are totally abided by owners.
This is the situation where someone breaks into your house, steals your gun, it is now out in the open, probably on the black market. Who now has the gun? someone who might be very prepared to use it.
No other readily available hand held weapon has the capability of a gun. As heartless as this sounds, if you are with a group of friends, and confronted by a man wielding a knife, you can retaliate and you might get scratches, cuts, stabs wounds or you could be killed. With a gun the chances are a hell of a lot more likely that you will suffer far worse injuries.
That is all.

"Dont tell this guy you are going to ban guns, hehe"
I know that this was meant in a humurous way, but that is exactly why I am for gun control. It gives person control over another, regardless of what has happened, or for what reason. This unfairly changes the situation into a life or death situation.
