This is a nice list from Tom Morello's site www.axisofjustice.org. No wonder the US had to edit the 12000 page document outlining the weapons program declaration in Iraq

There is no doubt that america has supplied weapons to Iraq. They also supplied weapons to the Taliban to fight against the Red Army. George Bush had those business dealings with Osama Bin Laden's late brother's oil business/ Ha! It looks like all of America's old allies who fought the wars for them, helped boosts their economy, were business partner's with the presidents family, are all finally turing against them.

Yeah. Who would have though, right?

The funding and support of Iraq's military machine at a time it was killing Kurds and Iranians in the geostrategic war with Iran, now openly admitted by the Bush administration (http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/1230-04.htm), is just another instance of Reagan's imperialist policies of global domination through proxy armies, clandestine operations, and secret alliances with unsavories. A really dramatic change from the policies of the 60's, - which as a result of political apathy, were full military invasions of the most minor conflicts such as the revolution in the Dominican Republic and the civil unrest in South Vietnam.

I think that sypher is referring to Goldstein as in the character from Orwell's "1984", the rebel leader who never really existed and was used to pluck out any possible dissidents or real rebels.
