View Full Version : How to aid the cause at my school...

Right, history:

I'm in my second year of secondary school, been studying communism for two years now. (Although not all that time I knew the true meaning.) Anyway, I greatly wish to aid the cause, but... how? I'm unnoticed, and not listened to. (I recently noticed that whenever I speak I'm interrupted within a second, with certain people.) At my age people are more interested in football or going out with people. Any thoughts? Thanks, comrades.

Being young sucks. All the people care about things that do not matter as much as how we are being killed by the Cappies. I would say just casually bring it up. I just brought in a Big Ass book on Che and people were like "Whoah you can read that... Wow... Who is that guy???". Once you get them involved show them the light and the problems with our society.

I might also suggest protesting the pledge of alligence (if you live in America), hand out flyers, and anything anti-stuff that you can think of.

Buy a shirt with Che or the Hammer and Sickle.
Speak up, raise the volume of your voice, but don't shout, then people will take you less seriously.
If someone attempts to interrupts you, ignore them and keep on talking.
And do like what Rage did and buy a big book on communism and carry it around with you at all times. Then, quote from it at random.
That will get you noticed.

Plus do something crazy with your hair.

PINKO, start with the advanced smarty jones students. They are more open to these ideas. Then, you might be able to convert punks to communism if you present it right and allow them to add their own touch to it. I starting this at my school, except I am a loud mouth everyone likes (except for preps, because I damn them).

The only "Smarty Jones" student I tried it on now hates me for my beliefs.

Anyway, thanks for all the advice.

Be honest.
What is your message?
What exactly are you trying to tell people and how?
Have you really thought about what you are doing, saying, and showing people about yourself?

You do not need a loud voice or a stupid haircut to get people to notice that you have something good to say, you just have to have something good to say.

Chances are, if you aren't being listened to, its because you are not saying anything worth listening to.
And if you try to get attention and make yourself look smarter or more informed than you are, those around you will pick up on that, and no one likes a poser.

Stop trying so hard, focus on yourself and your philosophy.
Gain some perspective, realize how young you are and how much you do not know.
If you attempt to look smart but you are not, the smart kids will resent you.
Being intelligent in highschool is hard enough without having to deal with people who are trying to get your attention by saying stupid things as if they are profound.

And if they are not willing to listen to you and offer you advice, then chances are they are either too busy or they really aren't that smart in the first place.

Stop pushing communism like its the coolest, newest drug.
There is more to life and the revolution than communism, try to expand your point of view to include the ways in which others view the world.
If you spend more time listening than talking, you will learn a thing or two about your peers, and when it comes time when its your turn to speak and you know you have something important to say, they will listen back and you will know them and their points of view and so you will be better prepared to communicate your idea to them.

Don' bother with attempting to be popular, its all a waste of time and energy.
Don't bother with most of the punks, they're all going to be drunks and junkies when they're older unless they are the smart kind who dress the way they do because they are really artists on the inside..
Don't bother with anyone, stick to yourself, learn as much as you can, if people see you not interested in them, they will think you are smarter than them and want to listen to you.
If you sit alone at lunch with a notebook and a pen vigorously writing your next thesis, chances are someone will interupt you because they are curious.
Then you can either entertain them humbly or tell them you are busy and even though they might be offended, you will soon have the "hostile recluse" lable, and every one will be intrigued.

But intriguing people should not be your top priority.
Your top priority should be your mind and where you bring it.
Fuck what other people say unless you are listening with the intent to learn anothers point of view.
Fuck what other peoples opinions of you are, they don't matter.
The people who spend their school years trying to be popular and listened to instead of trying to grow their mind and listen are never going to ammount to anything brilliant or courageous.
Its the people you've never heard of who are going to do great things because there is a reason why you've never heard of them and its because they dont care about you or your popularity contest, they care about learning and growing up.

If you have to spike your hair to get attention its because that's as far as your creativity allows you to go, you can't think of anything worth listening to, and the only reason people pay attention to you is because you are loud or funny or rebellious and thats "cool".
Sure, it feels good to be popular, but it does not last, and after highschool nothing is the same.

If you feel like you need to have friends, choose them because you like them, they like you, and you have alot in common.
Do not choose your friends because you think you can "convert" them.
Any intelligent person will resist your efforts, and the ones who dont aren't worth what you put into them.

My best advice is this:
Focus on yourself, build your philosophy.
When you are confident in your self, and when you know what you're talking about, it will show.
When your confidence shows, people will be naturally attracted to you.
And when you speak like you know what you're talking about because you do, people will listen because they will be under the impression that you are someone worth listening to.
If you never become confident enough or finish your philosophy while still in school, do not fret or loose hope. After graduating you have the rest of your life to spread your word, and you'll be even old and stronger and people will take you more seriously.
The more life experience you have, the better you will be at judging the importance of events and the meanings of words.
If you don't know what you are talking about, it will show, and no one will listen to you except stupid people.
If you are arrogant, people will resent you and will not take you seriously.
If you try to be someone you are not, people will resent you and will not listen to you because they will know you are not honest.
BE HONEST.
If you know your philosophy is incomplete, focus on learning instead of teaching.
Avoid preaching because preaching will make people resent you.
If your goel is to express yourself, but you have no message, you should spend sometime listening and chances are you will find some sort of inspiration in what you hear.
When you find inspiration, follow it as long as you can until it wears off.
Then listen some more for new inspiration and you will find it.

Observe your peers, you can tell the difference betwee the popular, the intelligent, the athletic, the *****es, the geeks, the artists, the rebels, and the stoners.

Observe yourself.
Which catagory do you consider yourself in?
Is it one, or more than one, or none at all?

Can you imagine where people will be in 5 years?
Ten years?
20 years?

Can you imagine where you will be?

Chances are some people are easier to imagine in 20 years than others, and you now who they are.

Don't tie yourself down with lables and goels set far into the future.
Refuse to be anyone thing, don't even be yourself because chances are you don't know who you are and who you are will change within 6 months any way.

Those people who are popular now are at their peak in life.
If you haven't hit your peak yet, you're golden, don't get sucked into their games, its all an illusion.

Focus on yourself, fuck what they know, fuck what they think, you aren't their to teach them you are their to learn as much as you can so that you can know as much as you can and thats it...

God damn it, their is so much I'm forgeting to say, but I feel like I am rambling so I'll stop...

You're young, you're probably intelligent, allow yourself to develope at your own pace, you'll be okay so long as you don't allow yourself to get sucked in.

You see all those popular people? They're already sucked in and lost.
Someday they'll grow up and go to work and have kids and be the system and they'll never let go of their highschool experience because they were "the best years of my life".

Don't you see?

Being at school and being a anarchist was to say the least frustrating, the best advice i can offer to you is to join a local group outside of school, but dont join the SSP goons!!!

Just talk to people, give opposing views to the mainstream ideas they throw at you in school, the most important thing is not to make out your on some moral high ground, make it realistic to the things your fellow students can relate to.

Read all you can and educate yourself. When you talk to kids your age try to relate what you have learned back to them. try to educate your peers as best you can. Find people that respect you, if there are a lack of those types around get people to respect you. I was a radical when I was your age also and I understand how frustrating it is when nobody around you cares. Always preach peace and equality and never let the man get you, or your brothers down.

It was nationalist bull shit. There was a guy fomr the 'free scotland party' going on about how the english stoal all our oil  . And then colin foz gave an average speach, and went on about how the ssp had to work towards independance with the snp and the greens :( . Then rosie kayne read out the naitonalist shite that is the decleration of calton hill. Yeh it was awful.

run for student council. dont state openly that you are a cmmunist, because most kids have been brainwashed into thinking commie=Bad despite that they don't really know what it is. run on communist principals, fairness equality, cuz quite frankly, whats bad about those? once your in, start making good changes, and eventually start telling people that this is what communism looks like, not the crap that their parnts show them.
