View Full Version : Religious Conservatives and Liberals

I was recently thinking about the religious liberals being upset about the new pope. Now, I'm not a practicing catholic, but I was just thinking that It would make more sense to be following the conservatives because they are trying to preserve what god supposedly wants and it doesn't make much sense to re-write god's permanent rules in favor of liberals. The liberals are just trying to get the church to justify their "sinful" behavior. In the case of religion I think you're supposed to be trying to protect what god said, not change it so you won't feel guilty if you do something that is traditionally wrong. Aren't the liberals debasing the faith from what it used to be.

I would just like to say again that I am not a christian. The thought was just bothering me.

It's not what God says, it's what the clerics say God says.

We shouldnt support any of them, they are religious, they oppose communism and therefore that makes them our enemy. Plus there is no god(s) and do you really want to support a conservative with all things they come out with?

I don't support them, I just meant that from a religious perspective it seems like you should be changing the least because it could be in the wrong direction. If tradition has stood for that long, why should it change. Since god doesn't talk to people anymore (which seems kind of suspicious) religious people should be listening to the people who did talk to god.

btw, i was expecting religious people to respond to this.
