There is no chance of having a revolution in a first world country. People are too contented and have too much to lose to fight for anything; however that does not mean we can't push for steps towards socialism. Something left wingers should be campaigning for is socialist , free, education, and we should focus on this strongly; it could certainly get mainstream backing. I think if rather than focusing on gaining support for a poorly defined socialism- of which many people have hugely different ideas of what it is- we should be focusing on specific changes, and focus on getting them instead. What with tuition fees and everything, free university education would be something great, and would give the working class so much more freedom to achieve a good education.

But what other changes should we focus on getting? If we had a proper idea of what we were looking to do, I think we would have so much more support.
