The Direct Democracy Initiative has been created to agitate the system and ultimately change it, to give more power to the people, and hopefully all the power. It will begin at the local level, by urging active Socialists to vote in towne referendums, to initiate the public in discussion and debate on Socialist issues. Protests and mass meetings will further agitate the system, will let the people in charge know we are here, and we will not be ignored.
We will ask for greater power in government decisions. We will take it if necessary. We will create direct democracy one election at a time.
It will be a hard fight, but one that can create lasting change.

People try and set up new national or international groups pretty much every other week and none of them actuallyachieve anything except a quick post in this forum.
Like novemba said, it is much more beneficial for you to join an existing group because they have the resources, experience and members to help you become active. You should also be able to give ideas for things the group could do.
One thing that I always thing is good however, are students setting up groups in their schools/colleges/universities. This can usually be more successful. You could start with a discussion group and see where that leads you. Starting off small is usually the best way to attract attention and not get too disillusioned. School groups can always affiliate with larger organisations too.

Well I’m not a bourgeois (sp) student, I'm a worker. Hard to imagine huh, a real worker who is active in Leftist politics. Or did you think all Leftist were students and "intellectuals".

Well its not a group, if you have read the thread and the title you would realize it is an initiative that works with already established groups, unions, and individuals to spread the ideals and hopefully practice of Direct Democracy.
The Initiative is a movement, not a group, it is a challenge to the people to push the leaders out of the way and give a greater voice to the people.
Dont be so quick to jump to conclusions about people, and about their endeavours. Action is needed, someone needs to do something, and hopefully this Initiative will stimulate disscussion and action from among my fellow workers.
