Hello all,
I am interested in finding out whether or not left wing, egalitarian communes exist? Are communes reactionary? How can I live without being manipulated by the capitalist machine?
Good day to you all,

There's not as many communes as there were about 30, 40 years ago, but they do exist.

No. If they are "out of this world", and do not take part in class struggle, they may be egalitarian, by left wing they are not.
Are communes reactionary?
In principle, yes: pre-capitalist and reactionary.
How can I live without being manipulated by the capitalist machine?
What do you call "manipulated"?

are communes reactioanry? it would depend on what you are referring to. i would not call the paris commune or the commune in kwangju south korea (for the short time it was around) reactionary, they were revolutionary. but if you are referring to "hippie" communes that seclude themselves from society and support themselves by selling a product it makes, then no, that is not revolutionary.

Yes. The Paris commune was not reactionary as it was a genuine effort of the Parisean working class to seize power. Communes referred to in this thread are reactionary as they are 'hippy' communes, made up of people who want to separate themselves from capitalism instead of getting rid of it.
How can I live without being manipulated by the capitalist machine?
By struggling against it, to replace it with socialism.
