Protest and Campaign against Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant ---"Chernobyl on the Hudson"
On or about Sept. 1, 2005, Indian Point 2 Nuclear Reactor was discovered to have several cracks in a spent fuel pool and leaked unknown amounts of radioactivity into the environment for who knows how long. Fucking Idiots. The Nuclear Regulation Commission as well as Indian Point failed to notify citizens or local officials until over two weeks later, on Sept 19, in an effort to consistently maintain that they operate in safe containment. Fucking Liars. However, the track record states otherwise, having regular age-degration containment leaks and 'accidental" dumpings of hundreds of gallons of radioactive water into the Hudson River. Indian Point Power Plant is potentially a Chernobyl or Three Mile Island disaster ready to happen.
Despite a massive ongoing campaign joining 3 states, 5 NY Counties in the 50 mile radius, 50 municipalities, and local school boards, labor groups, civic and health groups calling for decommissioning the facilities, they continue to operate with flawed safety codes, an impossible evacuation plan and repeated radioactive hazard violations.
It's beneficial for Entergy, the owner of Indian Point, to keep operating because they pocket 2 million per day from it. Between 2001 and 2003, Entergy's total profits were three billion, two hundred and seventy million dollars ($3,270,000,000) with a low three-year tax rate of 1.3%

From IPSEC website:
"Located 40 miles from Ground Zero in the most densely populated region of the country (20 million people live within a 50-mile radius of Indian Point), the nuclear plant is a risk to women, men, children, the environment, and the financial stability of the United States. "
Map of fatality and injury zone in event of inevitable melt-down. (2004 study estimates 44,000 prompt deaths from acute radiation poisoning and 518,000 long term death from a large radioactive release in 50 mile radius zone.
