I'll second that, and though I probably won't contribute (but I'll try), it is an important piece of work that everyone should understand.

We had a bit of a problem with the last study group, of interest and participation tapering off before we got to the end. Maybe that's why both DJ-TC and I (we both were part of that) - suggested short works that fewer people have already read.

Yes, for the sake of motivation. Most of people are not motivated to read longer works. Besides that I would like for us to deal with a little more 'actual' works. Especially those which can help us make a discussion. I don't think that Wage Labor and Capital, or any other purely economic works are something we have to read within a group. It's just not interesting and motivating to read a text on which everyone agrees.

This poll's been going for about 2 weeks now...how about we close it and start studyin'?
If it's gonna be Reform or Revolution (http://www.marxists.org/archive/luxemburg/1900/reform-revolution/intro.htm), then based on the experience of the last group I suggest we move through it relatively quickly. The chapters are short.

Good to see History and Class Consciousness up there, though it is obviously a very challenging and time-consuming read. I think Tailism and the Dialectic would be more suitable, in that it's far more readable and concise. The problem is you can't find it on marxism.org, probably because of copyright law. And not to mention that it's probably too late to add another text to the vote list...

Yeh, it's by Lukacs. It's a long essay written in 1925 defending History and Class Consciousness.

I think we should get going on some Marxism, just to even things out a bit.

I vote "Anti-Duhring" by Engels. It can be said that this is an excellent summary of Marxist theories. It's very good and worth to learn here.

I'm new at the study group- is anyone reading Reform or Revolution? Where does it get discussed?

I think it would be best to read either value, price, and profit, or wage labor and capital as they are very short, and comrades will be able to get a near complete understanding of them. I dont know about anyone else, but most of the others i dont have time to do in between school work

This is an old poll.

Why are people still voting? This poll is extremely old and defunct.
