Yesterday in my highschool, they said they were legally required to show us a little movie about 4 minutes long about the constitution because the president had declared today to be "Constitution Day." Well today they showed it, and I figured I'd watch it because I didn't feel like doing geometry ;) . Well anyways, the video was a lame peice of propaganda, I couldn't hear it because the teacher had the volume turned down really low and everyone was still talking but at first it showed a picture of General Tommy Franks(i think he was the narrator) then it just showed a bunch of those old paintings of the founding fathers standing around while the narrator talked about the constitution. Then it cut to this old dude who said something, which again I couldn't hear, and he had all these kids behind him with american flags and then the national anthem started playing and it just showed the kids waving flags. It looked reminscent of something out of hitler youth, except they were careful to include minorities. Then at the end of the video there was a picture of President Bush smiling with something underneath about how he had approved some bill or something that made this officially Constitution Day.

Anyways, I googled it and you can see it for yourself here: http://www.constitutionday.com/

Lol, I just watched it again, the narration is even worse than I thought. "Greatest freedom document ever conceived"

"Freedom Document". Lmao.

It's not the worst. You could live in Texas. Then you'd have to celebrate Dubya's "Jesus Day".

"By proclamation of Governor George W. Bush, 10 June 2000 was 'Jesus Day' in Texas."

The reason you've probably never heard of Constitution Day is because this is the first time "Constitution Day" has been officially been celebrated with government support.

They showed the Constitution video at my school, but I had Jazz band then so I didn't get to see it. I heard it sux, but I wouldn't mind seeing it, because it has Senator Bryd, who I consider one of the best senators of all time. OK, you caught me, I'm really a left wing anti capitalistic democrat. But, if a socailist party rose to power, I would support it. But for now, I follow the Chomsky formula: vote democrat if there are Republicans and the socailist have no chance. I'm voteing democrat.

Was gonna post on this, I saw it this morning. The narrator said "Many countries have adopted our great system of government and economics, and they all prosper! We live in the greatest country on Earth!" and then it showed a bunch of 88MM cannons being rained down on people in war time, at the "defending the constition" part of the video.

As usual, they pulled out the "Some countries are evil and have no freedom of speech whatsoever!" and they only showed about 1,000,000 communist flags, and about 1,500 Anarcho-Syndicalist flags. I swear, this propaganda is so blatant, but nobody even fucking notices.

Fascism has come to America, people.

Death to America and it's fucking war machine.

Ain't that funny? Robert C Byrd was a former member of the KKK. When asked why he was apart of the KKK his answer was because of the anti-communism. That and toppled with the fact the second biggest economic factor in West Virginia is WAL-MART, Senator Byrd and his counter-part Senator Rockafeller is about as effetive in bring capitalist economic reform to West Virgina as a ham sandwich. Fuck 'em. The only real economic reform that ever going to come to Applachia is going to be under the banner of Proletarian-controlled Socialism. ...and that's won't happen unless a region or nation wide revolution happens.

I thought about raising my hand and saying something to that effect during the discussion, but my teacher's husband is a Nazi, er Marine, so she would've gave me a detention or something.

I had trouble keeping my mouth shut on occassions like those, and for good reason! I never regretted it.

SEPTEMBER 16TH, 2005

CELEBRATION DEDICATED TO THE MILITARY

All America will unite in the simultaneous recitation of the Preamble to the United States Constitution all over the world on Friday September 16, 2005, with the nation's schools and the military at home and overseas.

President George W. Bush signed a bill on December 8th, 2004 (public law 108-447) which designates every September 17th as Constitution Day. However, Constitution Day, Inc. has been celebrating for the past eight years with the simultaneous recitation of the Preamble.

:( What is wrong with the U$ population??!!!!

"For the first time, every school and college receiving federal money must teach about the Constitution on Sept. 17, the day the document was adopted in 1787. "

"The federal government typically stays out of telling schools what to teach, because that power rests with the states under the 10th Amendment to -- yes -- the Constitution.

Yet this topic is different thanks to Sen. Robert Byrd, a West Virginia Democrat who is known for being zealous about the Constitution. He inserted a provision into a huge 2004 spending bill that requires constitutional teaching, although schools are free to choose how. "
