When Iraq invaded Kuwait...
why exactly did the US stand up with Saudi Arabia and Kuwait?
What exactly was it that they wanted to get out of it all?

My knowledge says that Kuwait is owned by Britan (or is heavily influenced by Britan please correct me on this!) and the US did not do anything when Iraq told the UN what they were going to do. Then they invaded. America entered to show off fancy weapons. Make a profit. The End.

Heavily influenced. about the question, the united states invaded because kuwait is a state with lots of oil, and the US didn't want that saddam will have so much oil.

What's US's biggest oil supplier? What would happen if that oil would be cut off?

No. oil was the main reason. and they wanted to gain more support there, with the saudis and kuwait because they knew there was going to be another war! They had plenty of opportunitys to finish saddam off.

First of all, Kuwait has always been a part of Iraq, untill Britain (and the West in general really) carved out a small puppet state for themselves in some of the oil richest areas and called it Kuwait.

The oil richest countries in the world are as follows:
1. Saudi Arabia
2. Iraq
3. Kuwait

I think Iran is fourth, but after that there is a real big fucking drop-off. America imports the majority of the oil it consumes, so it desperately needs to keep oil prices low.

Now, Iraq has been hesitant to to produce the 10 million barrels a day that they are capable of (for various geopolitical and internal reasons), but if they did it would probably push the price down to 15$ or less a barrel and cause a huge economic boom for the United Snakes of Amreeka. If Iraq had taken control of Kuwait, oil production would have gone down there too and the global oil price would have skyrocketed. If you think back a few months you'll remember that Iraq stopped all exports to the West for a month or two just to push prices up.

Now Bush jr. is dealing with an economic slowdown, and if he can depose Saddam and get American Oil companies in to tap Iraqi oil, he could marginalize OPEC (Saudi Arabia being the most important there) and collapse the global oil price. This would trigger an instant boom for America the likes of which a Republican administration has never seen.

So, to make a long story short: Yes, it's all about oil. If Bush pulls this thing off, he could end his term as one of the most economically successful presidents in recent history. If not, well, then he'll just be "the warmonger with the big ears".
