So, im in AP Euro, and I was pondering over a term paper, and it can be pretty much anything involving Europe from 1500-present. Can be wars, ideas, cultures, etc. I was thinking of doing mine on the nature of anarchism as a serious political idea. Now, most people that will be seeing this think of anarchy as "violence, drugs, death, chaos" those were the responses I got today when I asked a few members of my class about what they thought of at the word anarchy. almost none of them take Anarchism seriously. I myself think of myself as a socialist at heart. I'm not optimistic enough to totally support communism or anarchy, but I will definatley defend it when attackted. so, I was wondering if there was anything in particular about the early true years of anarchism I should write about. Ive read a few works by people such as Proudhoun, and Bakunin, who promted me to want to focus on anarchism. So, yeah, any ideas for a thesis, since the term anarchism is a bit broad.

I'm in AP Euro as well right now.

Take all the shit that happened in Europe over the past 500 years. Corrupt churches, religious wars, nationalistic wars, oppression of people in general and related it all back to class antagonisms.

Then argue how a classless society is obviously the solution, because as well all know, history repeats itself. We cannot stay on this course forever.

That sounds like a good idea.

I was going to suggest tracing Anarchism's history in Europe, but if you're trying to disassociate it from violence, that might not be such a good idea due to that long and jolly period of propaganda by the deed.

If you have some questions about Anarchism, i suggest the Anarchist FAQ (http://www.infoshop.org/faq/index.html).

Good luck ;)

How about instead of looking backwards for ideas, why not look into the now. Why not do a paper on anarchist agitators and groups are are organising succesfully in europe, especially the growing courage and strength of the CNT in spain and how mass mobilisations have created a new arena for the struggle?

I did a study on how the media treats anarchists/revolutionaries, and how it affects the viewers/consumers and how that affects the movement, if you want any good sources to use just PM us.

Do stuff on the first international between the Marxists and the Anarchists.

Anarchist Communism is a good one to study and is going to be my choice in my politics dissertation in my finale year of university.
