I read in my Enclyopedia, that the Derg while in power in the early years were to attempt to move people from the drought prone areas of the country. They eventually didn't because of outside pressure, with the US being a leading figure. I'm guessing they were threaten with intervention, or harsh sanctions and blockades increased..
I have so far only found this in my Enclyopedia, does anyone have any good information on this. It would be interesting to know if this was the best solution, and could of saved lives that did die during the Derg control of Ethiopia, which is often blamed on Derg control.
