SOME OF THE TEXT BOOKS IN INDIA CALL BHAGAT SINGH a terrorist.......
this was highly opposed by the sikh community for describing a revolutionary as a 'terrorist'........
article....

If one goes by a textbook [Landmarks in World History: From Renaissance to 1945 A.D.] published by the Mumbai University Institute of Distant Education, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev indulged in 'terrorist activities.'
Chapter 15 [para 15.5.5, p. 203] of the History Paper-I, Landmarks in World History, which is read by first year B.A. students, says this: 'Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were hanged for killing the British. The (British) government put severe measures to curb this freedom movement. However, terrorist activities continued in Bengal and Maharashtra.'
According to a report in The Asian Age on Tuesday, two management council members - Amarjitsingh Manhas and Rajabhau Mirashi - and three senate members - Dr. Tushar Jagtap, Prashant Patil and Sameer Desai - of the university have objected over this error.
They have pointed out the errors in a letter to the vice-chancellor, Dr. Vijay Khote.
'Instead of calling the deeds of freedom fighters as revolutionary, they were termed as terrorist activities,' the paper quoted Dr. Jagtap as saying.
Dr. Jagtap also objected to paragraph 204 and 205 of the same text, which states that the Sikh community and the depressed classes did not take part in the Quit India Movement.
though its an old story.........
people like bhagat singh and che(some of my friends call che a terrorist) should not be called as terrorists.
what about naxalites/peoples war group/maoists?

I assume these books were made by capitalist companies. They like to call people like Bhagat Singh terrorists as people would then see them as murderers and criminals, rather than the freedom fighters they actually are.

thats by govt of india,i think.........
a big movement went against it in india!
this textbook pollution was mostly did by the BJP(right wing communal party), when it was in the power.
this phenomenon of adding communal/rightist/anti-muslim stuff in to text books is known as "saffronisation" of textbooks.
most of the authors/board members of history and other text books used to be RSS and VHP people(who are pure right wingers with nazi ideas...and these were responsible for gujrath riots.)

Bhagat singh was a true revolutionary looked up to by people in Pakistan as well. Descrbing him as a terrorist is something we take offence to. It's just plain idiocy to brand people as terrorists just because the government does not agree with their viewpoint.
Bhagat Singh's ideals still ring true today, we don't just have to expell foreign dominance but also have to fight our own countrymen who have formed the ruling aristocracy in place of the British aristocracy.

Maoism is inherently flawed because of the vanguard style of governance, however this does not make maoists terrorists, just misguided.

Maoism is a flawed idea within the context of the 'first' world. In the 'third' world colonies, it's probably the most progressive option available.

Capitalist history has to be revised in order to keep people in line. If they went around the world publishing the truth. Do you know the problems the capitalists would face.

This is no surprise they would try and label a great revolutionary a 'terrorist'. The bourgeois generally say this about everyone who is fighting against imperialism and capitalism. They get labeled 'tyrants', 'dictators', etc. I would hope more Indians would learn about him. If he hadn't of been killed, I'm almost certain he would have helped lead a revolution in India.
LONG LIVE BHAGAT SINGH!!!

We Maoists believe that the true "terrorists" are the imperialist ruling class and their lackeys. Maoists like the CPI(M)/Naxalites are heroic leaders of the masses and the vanguard of the international proletariat.

i feel thats very true!
Why does the guerrilla fighter fight? We must come to the inevitable conclusion that the guerrilla fighter is a social reformer, that he takes up arms responding to the angry protest of the people against their oppressors, and that he fights in order to change the social system that keeps all his unarmed brothers in ignominy and misery. - Ernesto Che Guevara

i have a t-shirt of BS which says
"inquilab zindabad"--->front ...with a BS picture
long live revolution
}----->back
down with imperialism
people generally ask me "why you wear such t-shirts?"
BS was infact very ahead of his times....i read a book called "BhagathSingh's will".... where he says he's an athiest!(thats enough to make right wing bjp fellows to stop using his name for relegion....)
In that he explains "the past revolutionaries of ancient india used to believe in God...................."
BS finds some banned literature(marxist & ML) and studies it deeply(probably 1st indian to do that!)...even few days before his death!
he kisses the rope just before his death ..............then........hanged along with rajguru and sukhdev....
........ he explains revolutionary of ancient india- who is active in revolution as he believe in God....................
i dunno weather Mangal pandey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangal_Pandey)
comes in to that catogery

This is of course the eternal imperialist move - exactly what happened to the IRA (and others around the world - ETA for example) in their war against the Brits, probably the only difference being that some members of this board actually refer to the IRA (or ETA?) as terrorists.
