Melbourne Conference October 1:
Latin America rebels against Bush
On October 1 Melbourne will host the 3rd Australian Conference in Solidarity with Latin America. Guests include Liliany Patriacia Obando Villota, from Colombia, Lourdes Garcia Larque, from Mexico and Nelsón Dávila Lameda, new Chargé d' Affaires for the Venezuelan Embassy in Australia. Other participants include over 40 Australians recently returned from Venezuela, as part of the first Australian Solidarity Brigade.
"Chavez has many supporters here in Australia, people who can see someone standing up to George Bush and his war mongering", said Roberto Jorquera, Brigade organiser and conference participant. "Pat Robertson and the US establishment want him assasinated for a reason. Chavez is the new Castro figure of Latin America and the process of revolution underway in Venezuela represents a fresh challenge to US world domination and the injustices of corporate globalisation", said Jorquera.
The Australian Conference in Solidarity with Latin America will host a feast of discussion about the rebellion now underway throughout the continent of Latin America. Features will include the failure of US intervention in Colombia, the revolution unfolding in Venezuela, the insurrections in Bolivia and the rise of militant trade unionism and community activism throughout the continent.
