I don't want to freak people out &/or make anyone paranoid, but just keep in mind they are out there... I have a strong feeling some are on this message board, & on other boards as well.
You can always spot them through reactionaryism, or ultra leftist tendancies.
They will be the ones who try to provoke a group to fight with the cops at a protest, scream things like "The revolution begins now!" or bring molotov cocktails for EVERYONE ELSE to throw at the U.S. embassy.
On message boards they might try to get to know you better... Ask you for personal information, or misslead you with false interpretations of Marxist theories.
Just keep your eyes open and always ask yourself why a person is doing something or saying something.
Peace.

I was never in CPC(M-L)... I am in Young Left, and we don't officially support either CPC or CPC(M-L).
What made you think I was in CPC(M-L)?

Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist)... there is also a much larger, much better party simply called the Communist Party of Canada.
Their politics is extremely authoritarian and they adhere to the teachings of Hoxha (sp?) the anti-revisionist/stalinist dictator of Albania.

I don't think everyone in CPC(M-L) is Kimist, but they are an interesting party.....
They are ex-Maoist, they definately love Stalin, they like Kim Il Sung and Enver Hoxha alot.
Plus, they do have a big cultish tendancy around Hardial Bains, the founder of the party who died... Apparently they sing songs about him & shit like that.
I have met a few people from the party though, & in general they are ok...
I think they have changed a lot over the years and in terms of being active they do a lot more then CPC does.
I also think they genuinly want to work to build a leftist coalition & they have been doing things like voluteeringly not running candidates in the same riding as CPC.
But there is still a lot of bad blood between the two parties, back in the 70's CPC(M-L) used to send "Beating squads" out to beat the shit out of CPC people at protests calling them "revisionists"!
I think in the past CPC(M-L) was weird, sectarian and cultish; but they are starting to form in to a real vibrant and strong political party who wants to work for the good of the proletarian... JMO...

They sound like they have gotten better recently. Although the beating squads thing sounds pretty funny/painful.

Gee, comrade Marcel, as a shameless "ultra-leftist" I trust that wasn't ME you were talking about. :cheesy:
But I agree with you about one thing: be VERY SUSPICIOUS of ANYONE who advocates tactical violence in a situation where ONLY the lefties are likely to get hurt.
Remember that civilians are not trained in the "arts" of violence; police and military units ARE. Realistically, that means that tactical nonviolence is NECESSARY unless you outnumber the enemy by at least 25,000 to one...and 100,000 to one is even better.
Of course, if you ARE being nonviolent and the police ATTACK you...then violent resistence is justified. But even then, keep a clear head if you can. Know why you're there in the first place and what you hope to accomplish...and will violence in self-defense help or hurt that purpose. Sometimes, it really is better to "run away and live to fight another day."
I've observed that quite a few people regard political demonstrations as some form of public entertainment...they go to "see what happens". But it's not entertainment, it's REAL; and serious revolutionaries should have a serious perspective there.
