I just saw on local news, most of the french quarter residents were sent to houston's shelter. And they are just now seeing TV for the first time. Internet access will soon follow.

Gov. Blanco has refused to hand over the la. guard to Bush and has hired a clinton staffer to run it. Gotta love her! I'm just waiting on her to send for Castros medical staff now!

Geeaz... that wasnt a statement for the "victims" but for the gang wars going on inside the superdome and the streets. There were authrocities happening that wasnt reported on national news, such as the raping of small children. Had Bush controlled it, it would have been alot worse, trust me.

The link you quoted, is acurate to a degree, but some of the facts were left out of Blancos quote. She proclaimed New Orleans a disaster area before Katrina hit, thus a request for help from the US government, who didnt show up until days later. It still shocks me when someone puts faith in the media (liberal/leftist or conservative).

I suppose living in NO's back yard could give one some insight a displaced media (liberal/leftist or conservative) wouldnt have, but then again, I may be wrong.

Ok one more time, The national guard was sent in to stop the crimes against people. The convention center and the superdome was taken over by gangwars that have been going on for sometime in NO. The gang members were murdering and raping.

The Guard is now forcing evacuations. other wise those staying behind would die of disease. But there isnt much forcing, people are wanting to get out now, because they are thirsty hungryand getting sick.

I suggest you read the thread in this forum titled "First Hand Account from New Orleans" (or something similar to that), and stop getting all your information from the racist bourgeois media.

Most of those young African American men with guns were protecting their neighbors and fellow refugees from what they thought was a possible attack by the police or military.

They have another name for what you are calling "gangs": armed working people's self-defense.

I AM getting my information first hand and not from the media. I live just miles from the path of the hurricane. We have 25,000 evacuees in my town just north of NO. Their first hand accounts werent so positive. That WAS my point. There is nothing racist in my statement. You obviously dont know my race or anything about me! And yes those things I mentioned did happen and they werent reported on the media.

My family that was missing just called 2 days ago. It took them that long to get to us. So.... I'm feeling better about hearing from Redstar. I believe he is okay. And then we will be able to hear his first hand account.
