Out of curiousity, why do so many people have such a passion for Guevara as opposed to other (possibly better) Revolutionaries?
I'm not asking as an uber-n00b Communist, I'm asking as an uber-n00b member of this forum.

An insprirational figure for sure,
truely fought for the better of latin america not for personal wealth as many other do. I think a reason for his popularity among the youth today is his
hip, rebel look, the hair the beard, many who dont know what he accomplished are in love with his image.
Those who study Che , respect his charactor and relentless pursue of a better america. He also added and artistic twist to the revolution.

Why is Guevara so loved? He stuck to his principals, he kept on working even after the Revolution, the voluntary labour projects were something that Cuban politicians werent too fond of since they didnt want to get dirty, however Che kept on working.
Without a doubt Che had the kind of drive and will that I and others could only dream of.
There was this story about the Cuban Revolution I dont know if its true or not, but it mentioned that Castro eventually had his own chef cook, while Che ate what the normal troops ate (which meant sometimes even rotted meat), this is probably also why people look up to Che, he in a way became one of the "low" men.
I think the story your thinking of, is during the Cuban Revolution. When Che and the troops under his command, stopped at a small farm for food. The farmer or his wife, I can't really remember the exact details, asked Che if he wanted to eat his food, while he was waiting for the rest of his troops food to be cooked. Che refused point blank. Waiting until all the food was cooked for his men, then he stood in line and got his serving along with his men.
It was this kind of attitude, that has made Che a man I respect almost unconditionally. He refused to let power corrupt him, like it had done to many men before him.

He lived and breathed revolution. Others often sat in their ivory towers, never fighting hand to hand with their comrades. He was self sacrificing to a higher cause. This makes him stand above the rest. That and his efforts live on today. They are still taking place in Latin America, more so now than they did during his life time. zThat makes him easy to relate to.

His theory and practice were one in the same, and he gave his life to them.

Since this topic turned into a topic about Castro and the embargo, you can find the rest of it in OI.

It may as well be said: When you analyze the facts, his looks are probably a part of it. I mean, other revolutionaries weren't as attractive as him, and yet were probably just as good as him. I'm not saying any of you are part of this, but a lot of teenagers I've spoke to seem to recognise him for his good looks rather than his ideals and actions.
The reason I admire him is because of the sacrifices he made to make the world a better place. He rejected a comfortable, wealthy life as a Doctor to fight for other people's rights. In the end, he even died for what he believed in. He fought until the very end. Few people would ever have the courage and determination to do that.

Not just teens, everyone. I think you pinned it, its his passion for the revolution, you could see it in his eyes, his smile. Even not knowing who he was, you see it. That is what made him so attractive.
